The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about substantial changes to the way we travel. If you're planning an escape to Northern Ontario, the following tips will help you navigate this new travelling reality:

• Find out if any travel restrictions apply to your destination and origin before booking your flight. Also check if there are any requirements you'll have to follow on arrival, such as health testing.
• You're required to wear a face mask throughout your travel experience, including at screening checkpoints. Be ready to lower your mask for ID purposes when asked by a TSA employee.
• Do not hand your boarding pass (paper or electronic) directly to a TSA officer. Rather, position the pass on the scanner and then hold it up to allow the agent to visually inspect it.
• TSA is now allowing passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on luggage. This will need to be removed from your bag at the X-ray machine for screening.
• To reduce handling during screening, put items such as your phone, coins and keys into your carry-on rather than into the bins.
• Transport any food items in a clear plastic bag and also put them in a screening bin. Keeping food separate from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA agent will need to open your bag for inspection.
