"This was the first time my best friend Lina and I had stayed at a ryokan, and although it was a perfect trip overall, the only difficult part was walking up the hill to the ryokan with our luggage. The staff were very kind, and the two breakfasts and two dinners, each featuring exquisite delicacies, left us in awe every time. The temperature of the hot spring water was just right and gentle. What truly moved us, however, happened after we had checked out. While we were waiting in line at the Yufuin Station, the ryokan owner hurried toward us and handed me my sunglasses. The truth is, I had left the sunglasses behind, thinking they were too old to keep. The owner had noticed I had left them and retrieved them while cleaning. We were so touched that we almost cried.
