During our recent stay at the Arlo Nomad on April 14th, I booked the King Sky View room to surprise my boyfriend for his birthday and his first trip to New York. However, at a price of $688 for one night, the experience fell short of expectations. Despite having traveled extensively, I felt compelled to share my disappointment.
Anticipating a premium experience at such a steep rate, the reality was far from satisfying. The room, though in a small hotel, was even smaller than imagined. Despite being assured of a non-smoking environment upon check-in, the unmistakable scent of cigarettes greeted us upon entering the room, necessitating constant airing throughout our stay.
Numerous issues marred the room’s aesthetics and functionality. The TV wires hung haphazardly, curtains were stained, and blackout shades were cumbersome to operate, often becoming entangled. The bathroom, notably cramped, featured a shower curtain that appeared unsanitary and cheaply sourced. The overall ambiance was marred by worn-out walls, chipped bed frames, and dirty, scratched windows.
Lamentably, essential amenities were notably absent, including a fridge, safe, or even basic snacks, rendering the room’s exorbitant price tag unjustifiable. While the view was undeniably breathtaking, it failed to compensate for the overall experience.
