"Loved the old charm but some things seemed run down like stains on the carpets everywhere. The location however was great! Downtown Monterey has lots of restaurants and breweries to walk to and very close proximity to the wharf, walking/bike trail on the water. We chose to walk the 1.5 miles to the Monterey Bay Aquarium on a beautiful sunny day with lots of wildlife to see along the way."

We didn't like being between a gas station and a strip mall and having our room door on the outside for anyone to walk up to. "I truly love this hotel. the amenities, the location. The game area is so cool for kids to play and hang out. "We love this Hotel. The renovation was excellent. I would have given 5 stars except that our room was directly under the lounge area and the movement of chairs above us was very loud. We were woken up early in the morning by chairs/tables scraping along the floor upstairs. "Cute place. Nice artificial fire pits, hot tub, and pool. Rooms get humid quickly and window unit A/C tries hard but only goes to 65. Windows open, which is nice, but no screens. Major street outside windows is very loud. I don't blame the hotel for fire engines at 4am, but the fact is they were there each night and woke up all four of us. Staff was nice.
