Very good location and mgmt. very helpful. However the accommodation lacks adequate sound proofing from units both beside and above.

Thanks for the feedback. We are aware this can be an issue (we've only been here 9 months) and are looking into ways of improving the sound-proofing. It's not an easy fix but hopefully we can find a solution soon. Glad you enjoyed your stay otherwise.

Spotlessky clean. Lovely lady at reception. Our room was in the older section of the prooerty, but had all the amenities. However the internet was not reliable unless we stood on the front steps of our unut.

Probably the best "old school" motel I've stayed in. Would definitely ask for room 710 again - nice and spacious with a great shower. Really comfy bed with nice bedding for the cooler South Island nights. Great location for young families with a short walk to Tahuna beach and all of its child friendly entertainment and beautiful sand.

Proximity to the beach activities which was the reason for our stay. Also proximity to restaurants within walking distance. And also the sunshine!

Great little gem close to the beach.
It was a busy time and my hotel choice was made at this point in a hurry. But I am glad I picked Balmoral. Great location, 5 min to the beach and max 10 to restaurants. Amazing walk to town, it is an hour long but great views and totally worth it. The room was spacious and clean. Basic necessities. It's a motel, not a hotel, so you need to get your breakfast, but the awesome lady that the front desk can get something if you ask the night before. She was very welcoming and friendly throughout my stay. Totally recommend.

Good location close to airport and a short drive to the CBD. The rooms are older but with updated bathroom, and had everything we needed. Unfortunately, the walls between rooms are very thin and there was a group of people in the next room partying for most of the night.

Pictures on Internet did not depict what we were given. This one bedroom apartment was an old flat that had been renovated. No double glazing, tiny heater, dated furniture and plumbing. The back door was an old wooden single slider that didn't seal properly.

I really appreciated finding a motel that was comfortable and close to the beach, without being fancy and expensive...I live locally but needed to get away for a weekend break from the busyness of a young family. I found the Balmoral was perfect. I'd definitely stay there again, and recommend it to others. Staff are lovely.Thanks heaps.

A night in Nelson
Our flight home was cancelled and we needed somewhere to stay for the night. Close to the airport, the location was ideal. We were greeted warmly, space was clean, bed comfortable. Ideal for a brief stay. Happy, too, with the recommendation for dinner.

Great motel
What I look for and expect to see in the accommodation i choose to stay at is: Most important to me, cleanliness and what it has to offer for my comfort - and friendly hosts. This accommodation has it all. Cleanliness, Friendly smiling face greeted us and everything we could possible need in the spacious studio unit. Green tea, (my fav) plunger coffee, gave us milk in cute glass bottle not carton, everything in kitchen you could possibly need, soap holder in shower, ( it has soap dispenser, I like to use my own soap) hairdryer next to vanity unit mirror. comfortable warm bed, couch, dining table, reading lights over bed and couch, easy to reach switches, wardrobe and case rack, clean carpets and bedding. Warm unit. I give this 5* ++ and would highly recommend. The icing on the cake for me with this unit would be a brighter coat of paint on the walls. This is not a negative because it doesn't matter. Also being close to restaurants and beach - just an added bonus. Also a bonus, it is very close to bus stops. You couldn't want for more..go stay.

My overnight in Nelson.
Only stayed one night, we were travelling on a very limited budget. The staff were very friendly and helpfull. Room was a wee trip back in time, but was immaculatley presented. Would recommend to others.

The overall stay was great for the one night we stayed but I did have one problem when I had a reaction to the sheets on the bed and when I spoke with the person in charge the next morning she just kinda shrugged it off. I mean I know i was probably just one person that had the problem but she didn't seem to care to much about it and so I was a little disappointed.

Location was great! About 5 minutes walk to the Tahinanui beach. The hosts were very friendly and helpful too. Only qualm was finding a big cockroach in the wardrobe and 1 small cockroach in the living room. When we mentioned it they apologised profusely and promised to clean the room thoroughly. Other than that it was a pleasant stay :)

A very nice Motel
A really nice Motel just outside of Nelson. The unit was spacious, clean and well equipped. The laundry room was very useful and easy to use. Really loved the little area out the back of the units. Nice to sit in the fresh air. We ate at the Smugglers just along the road and had a really nice dinner there. I would definitely recommend the Balmoral.
