Hotel Beretta

10/10 Excellent

"Best location on the entire peninsula! Great restaurant right below, grocery next-door, five minute walk to the dock to get the ferries anywhere you wanna go. Another 10 minute walk uphill gets you to villa monastero and gardens. And a tough 30 to 40 minute climb, gets you to Castle Vizio, which is the absolute top point of the peninsula and a medieval castle. From the top of the castle, you can see the apartment and the balcony that’s how close it is to everything. Good jogging and hills all around. And I forgot to mention a three minute walk from the train, so you certainly don’t need a car at all!"

Grand Hotel Menaggio

8/10 Good

"Grand Hotel Menaggio — Stunning Views and Exceptional Breakfast, but Rooms Need Updating Grand Hotel Menaggio is a beautiful hotel with spectacular lake views and outstanding service. The breakfast was hands down the best of our entire two-week trip through Italy! The variety, quality, presentation, and attentive staff were absolutely exceptional. Unfortunately, the rooms didn’t quite live up to the rest of the experience. We stayed in a Junior Suite, which was certainly not one of the least expensive options, and expected more for the price. The beds, furniture, and decor felt outdated. Even the bathroom, although seemingly renovated, still had a tired appearance that made the room feel less fresh and inviting. Our balcony offered breathtaking views of Lake Como, which we absolutely loved. However, as beautiful as the scenery was, it didn’t fully compensate for the condition of the room. Overall, the hotel has so much going for it: stunning views, excellent hospitality, and an unforgettable breakfast. With some much-needed room updates, it could be truly exceptional. A lovely experience, but the accommodations need to better reflect the price."

Villa Rêverie - Boutique Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"We thought this was a little gem of a hotel, located in the quieter Como Resort of Belano. It was only a 10 min walk from the rail station and 15 min walk to the centre and ferry. Situated in a picturesque location on the lake, with beautiful views from the rooms. The accommodation was decorated to a very high standard, very comfortable bed. The breakfast was plentiful and fresh. The staff were all very welcoming and we were ver well looked after. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and would return."

Il Perlo Panorama

10/10 Excellent

"First of all, the staff at Il Perlo Panorma is exceptional. They were so accommodating and helpful throughout our stay. We arrived and had booked the Basic Room. It was ok, but since it was our 20 th anniversary, we asked about upgrading the room. The Junior Suite was available. They handle our room switch while we were away, moved our luggage and the Suite was amazing. We literally didn't want to leave the room. It had a huge balcony with stunning views of Bellagio and the lake, wonderful amenities, smart lighting to make it extra cozy, robes and slippers. It was the best upgrade. For those wanting to know about the shuttle service, they dropped off and picked up regularly and were also so accommodating with fast communication. I would highly suggest staying here. The restaurant was also delicious. Thank you for everything and making our stay so enjoyable."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Naro?

The best area to stay in Naro is within the historic centre, particularly around Piazza Umberto I and the surrounding streets.

This area is the heart of Naro, characterised by its medieval architecture, narrow cobblestone streets, and a relaxed pace of life. You'll find many of the town's key landmarks here, including the Basilica Santuario di San Filippo d'Agira and the Castello Chiaramonte. It's a very walkable area, great for exploring on foot.

For couples seeking a romantic getaway, staying in the historic centre offers an authentic Italian experience. You'll be close to charming trattorias for intimate dinners and have easy access to the town's beautiful churches and viewpoints, great for leisurely strolls. Many accommodations here are boutique hotels or restored historic buildings, providing a unique stay.

Solo travellers will also find the historic centre appealing. It's easy to navigate, and being centrally located means you're never far from a cafe or a local shop.

When is the best time to go to Naro?

The best time to visit Naro, Lombardy, is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months.

These periods offer pleasant weather, making it ideal for exploring the town's historic sites and the surrounding Lombardy countryside. You'll find comfortable temperatures for walking around the Castle of Naro, a prominent landmark, and enjoying the local cafes without the intense heat of summer. For couples, the milder weather creates a lovely setting for romantic strolls and al fresco dining.

Early summer, particularly June, is a great choice for families. The days are long, and the weather is warm enough for outdoor activities, but it's typically less crowded than the peak summer months of July and August. You'll have more space to explore the town's attractions and enjoy day trips to nearby lakes or vineyards.
