Very pretty location with nice rooms. There is a self serve kitchen, which is nice. The remote check in is not smooth. I was texted a number to call and they wanted all my personal info over the phone even though I had paid in full prior to the trip...card #, birthday, address, etc. No one on site to answer your questions.

Captain's Inn is located in a quiet area close to Elkhorn Slough- a wonderful place to go kayaking and see tons of wildlife- otters, seals, pelicans and much more. There are very limited places to eat within walking distance; there used to be a few more restaurants (and little stores) which unfortunately have closed. There are some very nice restaurants within a short drive. The room was clean and comfortable, there were several nice places to sit and relax in common areas- inside and outside. Well worth a stay here!

It's not made clear that this is an unmanned property and that check-in is via a phone at the entrance door that connects you to a remote call centre. It took several minutes on the phone to get checked in and to then write down the entry codes needed to get in through the front door and then the entrance code for your room. No breakfast on offer through there is a kettle and coffee maker. The property itself is fine but for the money paid, I think we should expect better service and facilities.

The tubs are amazing and so is the quiet vibe! Sunsets absolutely unreal amazing. My only worry was the platform beds are SO TALL off the ground the little side step stool is fine but the whole thing held up by just a few 2x4s felt really scary some nights for two adults.

Never saw such a thoughtfully, tastefully furnished hotel! Absolutely lived it!! Amenities are all there, and then some. No, no pool, but you’re next to water anyway. If you go there a whale-watching trip, you’re missing out if you don’t stay there. Good prices, worth every penny

Incredible views but hugely overpriced
We stayed here during our honeymoon and the views were just like the pictures. Checkin was awful though (as mentioned by others in their review). Having a person on site would make the world of difference. There weren’t enough parking spaces for all the rooms at the back (4 spaces and 6 rooms). There was poor attention to detail with several things in the room too. All the battery powered things (fan, candle, mirror etc.) had run out of battery. The house keeping staff didn’t refill the water or replace dirty cups/glasses. The big bath was lovely but the walls were very thin. We could hear people in neighbouring rooms talking, watching tv and even snoring through the night. No one was particularly loud so it must be a fault with the building rather than the guests. Could be so perfect but so many things let it down. I’d really expect more for the price.

This inn is super cute. My husband and I enjoyed the atmosphere very much. The decor and the outside gardens are perfect for the setting. It was super relaxing to sit on the deck and look over the Salinas River. So peaceful and beautiful. We stayed in the Admiral's Wife room, and it was gorgeous! Beautiful antique furniture with a fireplace and a clawfoot tub! Took a wonderful bath in that tub. I wish there was bubble bath available, but the body wash did the trick quite nicely. I didn't realize until after that there was a whole glass jar of bath salts by the sink. Think it should have been labeled or placed with the other bath/shower items. My biggest complaint, and the reason I took away a star, is the bed was awful! The most uncomfortable bed that my husband and I have ever slept in. I use the word "slept" loosely because we didn't get much sleep at all. Luckily, we only booked one night because we wouldn't have been able to stay another night in that bed. If the mattress was replaced with something better, this would be a 5-star Inn. All-In-All definitely enjoyed our stay here. If they upgrade their mattresses, we will definitely book here again in the future! Thank you Captain's Inn!!

Beautiful historic hotel that beautifully remodeled and restored. My bed was super comfortable with cozy linens. The aesthetics of the room was fabulous with new and preserved antiques expertly combined. The wiring for the TV in my room was not done well, it marred the aesthetic and it is what you look at in bed; I was in the Admiral’s wife room. A simple paneling to cover the wires could fix that. That aside, lovely room and hotel.

The views of the slough were gorgeous. I appreciated the binoculars and bird book in the room. Staff was available by phone and were very responsive. The nautical decor was charming, if a bit overdone. The bed, however, was mounted on a dingy and required a step stool to access -- this felt unsafe. While staff was responsive to texts, I prefer getting to see a human being on site.

A quick, overnight stay — thank goodness. The property itself was okay, but Moss Point is not pleasant. I wouldn’t book here again because the area is run down, many businesses are shuttered — just depressing.
