"The hotel is very nice, with a beautiful lobby and great décor, which is definitely its strongest point. It would benefit from having a gym, spa services, and newer TVs in the rooms to improve the overall guest experience."

"No serious issues but definitely a case of you get what you pay for. I stayed three nights and each night it sounded like people in rooms above and beside me were either smashing furniture or throwing suitcases across the room. This wasn’t the fault of the hotel and possibly a rare occurrence."

"The staff was welcoming, available to all our questions and provided great information to enjoy Coimbra. The accommodations are clean and adequate- not luxurious, but comfortable and pleasant. The buffet breakfast is wonderful. The location is great to experience the city and tourist attractions. I recommend for the value. "

"Loved the historical charm of the Palace! The room was a little small - couldn’t open the wardrobe all the way because it was too close to the bed. The bathroom was a good size. But the plumbing needs to be updated - the water pressure in the bathroom sink starts strong but then quickly weakens; the water in our sink smelled and tasted like old metal. The water in the shower did not smell/taste as bad, nor in the public water closets in the lobby. The bed was too firm and uncomfortable for our bodies, but we took it in stride. The walls seem thin, so we could hear neighbors walking the hall and bathing. Room television had limited channels and none in English, so a little disappointed that I couldn’t catch up on world news. Only Wi-Fi is in the bar/lounge. Above is not to complain, but rather to inform other guests what to expect. I would visit again because: * The staff were all very friendly and helpful - front desk, bellman (?), bar, and restaurant. We did not interact with housekeeping but they seemed pleasant from what we overheard. * The continental breakfast was fresh and plentiful. * Dinner in the restaurant delicious. * There is so much to see on the forest property and it is so peaceful and beautiful. * The young lady at the Convent reception desk was so sweet and helpful. Again, the first part above is to prepare others for staying. It is definitely worth staying at least a couple nights. We will return someday! Obrigada!"

"We loved our stay here! Beautiful property and nicely updated rooms while maintaining the history of it. The warm pool, sauna and steam room were also really enjoyed!"

"Nuno, the Manager, was well versed in English, helpful, and knowledgeable about the area. He provided us good guidance to explore the hotspots in the area. I would not recommend driving through this area unless you are willing to accept a few surprises with the GPS and locating the various attractions, including your hotel! I would recommend walking within a 10 minute radius of this hotel to find and explore various restaurant choices for food. Don’t settle for the first one you see!There’s a beautiful 19th century castle within 15 minute driving range of this hotel. Highly recommend a visit quite a bit of interesting short hikes and springs and waterfalls around the palace. However, I wouldn’t recommend staying at the Palace hotel. Food there is pricey. And it is very secluded. Just get a couple of drinks or a sandwich at the palace hotel, which will allow me an opportunity to take some pictures of this architectural marvel! Highly recommend visiting the natural holy water, spring! Quite unique, and all of our travels are around the world! "
