Located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and surrounded by living coral, a trip to the island of Maui is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Its upmarket hotels and luxury condos make it a popular honeymoon destination, while families are attracted to the outdoor lifestyle made possible by an overwhelming selection of picture-perfect beaches.
The North Coast is home to some of the greatest swells in the world, which is why adventurous watersports are so popular here. Surfing was invented on the Hawaiian Islands and surfers the world over are attracted by the spectacular barrel waves of Honolua Bay and nearby Napili Bay. The North-western shore is also home to one of the best beaches in the United States, the award-winning Kaanapali Beach, which attracts holiday-makers in their droves.
Nature lovers will revel in the spectacular array of flora and fauna around the three beaches of Makena State Park, while the partially submerged volcanic cone of Molokini provides a sanctuary for rare sea birds and an incredible wealth of sea life for those willing to make the 5-kilometre boat ride.
Snorkelling and scuba diving are popular across the island as the coral reefs attract vast numbers of beautifully coloured fish and crustaceans. Hit the waters of Maluaka Beach, Wailea Beach and Kapalua Beach to get a close encounter with monk seals and green turtles – keep an eye on the horizon as if you’re lucky, you may even spot passing humpback whales!
When you want to escape from the world and relax on the golden sands without being disturbed, seek out the extensive Keawakapu Beach, which is a little more secluded. Here you can swim, snorkel or just relax with a good book in peace.
Serviced by Honolulu Airport, Maui is a great base to explore the different islands of Hawaii or to just kick back and relax for a week under the swaying palms.
There was construction going on in the pool areas so only 2-3 pools are open. Also if you have ocean view it’s not worth the extra rate. You should do golf course view instead because outside the ocean view window is lots of constructions and machinery noise.
close to airport and stores. 24 hours front desk, hotel is a bit old but ok clean. Sounds isolate is bad. I can hear people close and open door. Parking is $10 a day
The property is more stunning in person than in pictures. Our stay at the Fairmont was everything it was supposed to be - relaxing and fun. My only complaints were the ugly hallway carpets and some bad service we received at Nick’s Fishmarket.
Has a Hawaiian feel to The Who place with great music/hulu at night, good food on the open terrace where you can view the free show each night. You can even sit a table on the patio and not pay anything & watch the show.
Amazing property! Would highly recommend, especially with children,
The staff and rooms were great. However, the beach is littered with trash. For the price they charge to use the resort, they could at least clean the beach.
