You can't get closer to the water if you tried

This bach is right on the water, and it's possible to catch fish from the deck! You can put the whitebait net out (in season), or just simply relax and look at the water. View from lounge is panoramic, from ocean around and up the river. A few minutes walk up beach for surf casting, kayak up river or if you are that inclined out to sea. West coast fishing at its best. 45 min from Waitomo caves, 15 min from Marokopa falls, Natural Bridge and bush walks.

Special conditions:
Smoking outside only. All butts to be removed, do not throw butts out on to the lawn.

NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave; Bring your own linen (towels/tea towels/sheets etc) and toiletries, and take your rubbish when you leave.

Minimum stay 2 nights for this property. Price includes first four people, additional people at $30/person/night, up to the maximum of six.

Awesome Location

We go to Marakopa a couple of times a year and always stay in this Bach absolutly love the place, location is perfect for the kids to jump down to the river and fish, play in the sand or swim and stunning views and spot for watching the sunset.

Heaps of fun and relaxing

This is a lovey space with all you need and more for fun at Marokopa. We enjoyed the location and amazing views each day. Caught a few fish with rods and loved using the kayaks. Well sticked kitchen and comfy beds. Thanks for the stay. We will hopefully be back again.

As usual, a great place to relax, or fish. The view is fabulous. Highly recommend this property. Thank you. Not a reflection on the owner, but previous guests left their smelly rubbish & empty bottles inside the property.

Excellent location

We enjoyed our time here, the view from the property is lovely and always interesting. We enjoyed exploring the beach at our doorstep, Kiritehere beach for fossils about 10 minutes over the hill and the bush walks just under 20 mins away. It took us about 50 mins to get to Waitomo where there is plenty to do. It is well equipped in the kitchen, internet worked well but don't rely on cellphone calls, making calls through internet worked though. Comms with owner were excellent. A great place to stay, I'll be recommending it!

Fab break

Awesome 3 nights here. Great location and lots to do in the surrounds. Recommend bringing binoculars for shorebirds (saw a spoonbill!) and kiritehere beach for easy fossil hunting! 2nd rooms queen bed had a bit of a sag but otherwise all was perfect! Oh and when it says no wifi and cell phone coverage - that’s not just at the house but approx 40 min drive to get into reception!

It is such a special place ... but I am loathed to over compliment cause it means more and more people will come and experience the richness of this place. It has already proved too popular and more difficult to confirm a booking because of competition. But nevertheless its such and awesome place to come and unwind and reconnect with the WILD WEST COAST <3

You couldn’t get closer to the water if you tried …

We have stayed here a few times over the past decade and each stay has been different. That’s because nature changes often and this spot is as close to beach nature as you can be and old classic kiwi bach next to an unspoilt New Zealand. Always so good :)
