"What is unique about this hotel? It is not a party hotel. It is maybe one of the most beautiful and relaxing hotels I have ever stayed at. I am 70 and travel a lot and spend time in beautiful hotels in beautiful areas.
The Fenua Mata'i'oa hotel tops my list.
We stayed in the Garden Romantic Suite. A large place. There was a nice outside shaded place to have breakfast with kitchen exposed to the ambient environment, complete with a cat if you allowed it.
The bedroom was large and very comfortable and air conditioned. I slept 8-9 hrs a night.
The bathroom and tub were in a Shangr-La environment. We had our own beach area with several outdoor outdoor areas to sit and enjoy nature.
Our room and every inch of the entire communal area have been immaculately and pain-stakenly decorated over 25 years. Everywhere you look you can't help but to be transfixed with the thoughtful cohesive beauty bestowed by the owner-designer.
You may think I am getting carried away and over romanticizing the property but my girl friend felt exactly the same way.
I was so nice to have a private dock where you can be picked up for an excursion or just to snorkel on your own or just have a drink and watch the spectacular sunsets.
If you want a romantic place for inspiration, I can't think of a better place.
Also, everything worked in our room and we only wished we had stayed a week instead of a few days."
"I love how we were able to walk to the beach, have breakfast there and book any aquatic or ATV activities. Walking to restaurants at night was a little different because it was dark, but we had two phones to iluminate road. I would stay here again."
"The staff here was beyond friendly, and always quite helpful. The location was perfect. We rented a car and did a tour of the whole island one day and decided that the views from our bungalow couldn't be beat! There are nicer beaches in the northwest of the island, and parts of the east, so if swimming/snorkeling is your focus, you'll need a car/scooter/bike. There are a number of great restaurant an easy walk away, Allo Pizza being one of our favorite. And there's a nice grocery store about a 15 minute walk from the hotel where you can but some ready-made meals, or get fruit, yoghurt, cheese, cereal and milk. Overall, this hotel offers great value, we definitely recommend it."
