Great location, good value

No frills, but a great location right next to Gran Via, short walking distance from two metro stations. Solid windows, so the room was very quiet despite the central location. Lots of good restaurants nearby.

The hotel is located in the center of Madrid, surrounded by many restaurants, bars, and shops. The room was simple and clean, though it did not have a freezer. Breakfast was basic—just bread and cheese—and started relatively late, around 8 a.m. Overall, it’s a good option for business stays.

The room is kinda small, but okay for 3. Not enough space when we spread out our luggage. Our room was an accessible room, the bathroom is very big, but there's always too much water spread all over the bathroom after we take a shower. The 3 of us only have 1 room key, it's actually a key (not a card), which is rare for us. Just 1 mirror in the bathroom, not convenient for girls who need to do makeup. The elevator is small and slow, but at least it can function well; it has to stop at the reception floor even though we didn't press the floor every time, which we didn't like.

This hostel is good with 24 hours front desk and check-in service, which not all hostels offer this. And the luggage storage service is a bonus. Bed is comfortable, room and individual bathroom is clean. Although the room rate is not cheap, as Madrid room rates are getting higher, this still a choice if we cannot get a proper hotel room. In fact, it is better than some of the HOTEL I used to stay in Madrid. There has no kettle, fridge in the room. No kettle from reception too. If someone need hot water only can get some from the coffee machine at reception level. Room is quiet. Prime location with 1 minute walk to supermarket. I am happy to recommend Hostel San Lorenzo to other travelers.

The location is very convenient for walking, eating and shopping. The staff is very friendly and helps you with whatever you need. It would be very nice to have a minibar in the room. I will be back.

Good location, sub-par hotel

Very basic and dated, which is fine. The issues were strong-smelling detergent on all the linens, thumping music I could still hear at 4 am, a shower that only worked with cold water, and thermostat that made the room either freezing or warm and stuffy. Keys (manual, not card) must be left with the front desk each time you leave the hotel. All the common area lights (hallways, lobby restrooms) are motion-activated with aggressively short timers, necessitating quite a bit of extra hand-waving. On the plus side, great location and front desk staff were pleasant. Overall would not recommend.
