The accommodation and hotel staff are fantastic, we have stayed here a few times and this part is always great.
However, the table service part of the restaurant is getting worse on each visit. On our most recent visit, we were seated by an abrupt and disinterested member of staff on a table next to a door that went out to the smoking area. We did ask if we could sit elsewhere but were told we would be fine at this table, there were 3 other tables of diners in the very large restaurant. Her reluctance to move us probably had something to do with the fact that our table was surrounded by vacated tables which had not been cleared after their diners left.
It took close to 30 minutes for our order to be taken by the non existent waiting staff. The food arrived reasonably quickly and was absolutely fine. We then again waited to order dessert but after 20 minutes of no visible staff, we gave up. We then had to search for someone to pay the bill. Next time we will eat in the bar area where you order food yourself, as this appeared to be quick and efficient.
Breakfast service the following morning was the complete opposite with lovely, attentive and friendly staff. However, at £14.95 per person it is very poor value for money especially as their main breakfast is very small.
We will return as we enjoy the accommodation and location but will consider different eating options
