The larger twin room has a sofa and ante room. Very nice if you are spending time in the room.

Convenient to shopping, restaurants and tram
From JR Kumamoto station take the tram and get off at Karshimacho (150 ¥) which takes about 10 mins tram ride from the station. Directly across is a coveted shopping mall/street which leads to Washington st. I don't recall English signage for the hotel but fairly easy to work out especially when you see the big Washington sign.
At checkin, interesting observation is the staff asked if I wanted a toothbrush/razor etc whereas in most hotels I have stayed, these items are already in the bathroom.
Reasonably quiet/comfortable hotel and also interesting to see that the red light district is just around the corner (presumably catering toward travelling businessmen).
The grounds of Kumamoto castle are quite impressive and can be accessed in a 15-20 min walk otherwise catching the tram is as easy.
OK hotel for what we paid for. Clean and convenient location next to arcade shopping streets, close to tram stop. McDonald & Starbuck are within 1 min walk. Only complain is mattress. I could feel coils. Must be old and need to be replaced.
Good location, room was well arranged though not very large as most rooms are in Japan, with all the needs for a night's stay. Good location for shopping and food, the attractions of Kumamoto were within walking distance. Some massage places in the immediate area as well as bars. Good value for a quick visit.
the hotel located in kumamoto, not far from shopping street ,we can stayed and comfort to find something to do in kumamoto.the fee was reasonable for traveller.
it is very convienence (near metro station) for us who travels with metro pass. clean room as expected (never encounter something not clean in japan though). However, room was a bit small.
Other than its location, all the others are on average

Better than expectation
I stayed in a single room for 5 nights. The room was not that small compared to other hotels. Everything was fine and I had a comfortable stay. At first I thought there was no wifi in my room and could only be used in lobby but then the staff nicely asked if I would like the router rental for free. Dont expect the staff could communicate effectively with you in English but they were willing to help, just try some body language.
Great location for shopaholics, the hotel is right situated at the start of the most popular shopping street of Kumamodo, with lots of restaurants nearby!
Hotel was nice but next to an apparent "red light" district. Rooms were efficiently small; be prepared to live out of your suitcase as there are no dressers. Bed was rather firm. Nearby sites included shopping arcades, Kumamoto Castle, Sakura-No-Baba Johsaien are within easy walking distance. City Tram stations nearby to visit other sites such as Suizenji Park and Zoological-Botanical gardens.
Quality of building, cleanliness and staff all good.
Sorry to say I didn't enjoy the bed. The 2 pillows were poor. One like a gravel filled bag the other so soft it didn't support my head at all. The cover for the duvet caused it to continually slip off the bed.
V good breakfast quality, quantity and variety.
