Kurashiki Ekimae Universalhotel

Kurashiki Ekimae Universalhotel

8/10 Good
"Superb location in the ancient quarter. Love the public bath daily. The meals were good in quality but need more variety. Appreciate the buffet salad included as well as the coffee machine. Rooms were very small and can only accommodate two people."

"The room has such a nice view of the sea, and the facilities are well-maintained. Staff is very helpful as well. The only con is the lack of washing machines as the hotel only got two of them. Not a problem if youre not planning on doing laundry."

Dormy Inn Takamatsuchuokoenmae Natural Hot Spring

Dormy Inn Takamatsuchuokoenmae Natural Hot Spring

10/10 Excellent
"Would definitely go again! I'm so happy I read through the reviews before staying here. Good tips I read that are helpful, is that there are multiple Dormy Inn's in the city, so remember to go to the Central Park one! You can take a bus down the main street, or do a 20 minute walk from the station. I ended up using the bus for when I had my heavy luggage. Also, the inn really does provide free ramen at night, and ice cream in the area by the hot springs! The rooms are especially clean and comfortable, with mini-fridge and other amenities. I only stayed one night for an event, but wish I stayed longer as the Pokemon store, shopping, and lots of delicious restaurants were nearby that I wanted to try as well!"

"Efficient check in. Allowed us to store our luggage before check in as we arrived earlier than planned. Room on the small side (for a double) but well maintained with limited storage space. Breakfast had good variety of dishes. Very good location on quiet side street, walking distance from the local train station and Ritsurin Garden. Close to many restaurants and shops."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Kisawa?
The best area to stay in Kisawa is along the coastline of Honjima Island, particularly near the port towns or secluded bays.Honjima Island is the largest and most developed of the Shiwaku Islands, offering a blend of history and natural beauty. The main port, Honjima Port, is where ferries arrive, and nearby you'll find a concentration of guesthouses and local eateries. The island is relatively small, making it easy to explore by bicycle or car, with scenic roads winding through pine forests and past quiet fishing villages.Couples looking for a peaceful retreat will appreciate the secluded accommodations often found in the quieter bays, away from the main port. These spots provide stunning sea views and a sense of privacy, superb for relaxing and enjoying the island's natural surroundings. You can spend your days exploring ancient temples or simply unwinding by the water. For travellers interested in local culture and history, staying near Honjima Port or the historic district of Kasashima offers a more engaging experience. Kasashima, a designated Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, features beautifully preserved Edo-period houses and narrow streets.
When is the best time to go to Kisawa?
The best time to visit Kisawa is during the spring (late March to early May) and autumn (October to November) months.Spring offers mild temperatures and clear skies, superb for exploring the outdoor art installations and gardens. You'll also catch the cherry blossom season, which adds a beautiful touch to the landscape, especially around the Kisawa Art Forest. This is an ideal time for couples looking for scenic walks and comfortable weather.Autumn provides similarly pleasant weather with cooler temperatures and often sunny days, making it excellent for outdoor activities. The changing leaves create a stunning backdrop, particularly along the coastal paths and within the various art sites. This period is also great for those who prefer to avoid the peak summer heat and enjoy a more tranquil experience.
