We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The cottage was just what we needed for the perfect getaway. Everything you needed was provided and it was very comfortable and very warm - the fireplace was a winner. The farm animals and birds were a delight and added to the experience. Thank you so much.
What a find! The property is a wonderful place to stay, very comfortable, rural, yet only 5 minutes from Kendal. On a few occasions, woke up to peacocks and goats at the bedroom patio doors.Katie was very friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. Very responsive to messages or queries. My wife and I are already talking about coming back to stay again.
Peaceful location with stunning views of hills where you can see both sunrise and sunset. Clean, spacious with everything you'd need for a relaxing stay. Great location to tour the Lakes. We'll definitely go back.
We loved our stay at this property, the view was fantastic, the house was spacious and well equipped and it was in a great location to explore the lakes. We would definitely stay again!
Wonderful large house. The pictures do not do it justice. The views from the balcony are stunning (same views from both bedrooms). The house is decorated with high class finishings. The house is also stocked with high end dishes, glasses, cutlery etc. The bedrooms are very large with en-suite in each one. Beautiful fireplace with much appreciated wood provided. The location is fantastic for taking hikes or leisure walks. There are numerous public trails that are well marked. Katie must have been doing this well for a while. The house was spotless when we arrived. She even had the floor heating on. Her communication is incredible. Everything you need to know is documented in "the book". Her almost instant responses to any inquiry before and during our trip was much appreciated. Thank you for making our Christmas a very enjoyable one. We would definitely stay here again.
We have had a brilliant two week stay at the Granary .
The accommodation was first class, communication with High Thorn Farm was easy and straight forward.
Great View out across the valley.
Would highly recommend a stay.
Beautifully appointed & furnished property with wonderful views of surrounding countryside. Very well equipped throughout and spacious without loosing it’s cosiness. Would suggest installing a shower unit in four poster bedroom en suite instead of the bath & hand shower. Loved the underfloor heating!! Thankyou
A barn conversion full of character with beautiful views out to a row of rolling fells. Fully equipped and comfortable accommodation. It's the Lakes: weather matters! But that view has character and drama to shift with the conditions - we had two October mornings of summer-esque sunshine sitting on the upstairs balcony; more wet and windy days had shifting, engaging vistas. Katie extremely attentive and helpful if any concerns when there. Great position for south Lakes. Highly recommended.
What a great cottage and surroundings, we had a really great stay and it’s a great location to explore the lakes. Will definitely return

A great place
This is a great little hideaway but not far from main town at all. If you just want to relax and sit by log burner with a few drinks then this is the place. Would recommend this place to anyone.

They say a picture says a thousand words
To say it was love at first sight is an understatement. We booked based on the pictures and the fact that we are 20 minutes away from Lake Windermere. I must say we have fallen head over heels in love with not only the cottage, but the Lake District in its entirety. Coming from just outside London, there is a certain disconnect from the true beauty of nature, but waking up looking out of the bedrooms/family room onto the rolling hills/mountains has been nothing short of spectacular. We will return to this beautifully appointed homie from home. Absolutely fantastic! Thank you Katie, the Walsh family

Wonderful cottage, beautiful views, fun to see all the animals, great owner. Loved it!
The cottage was clean, beds comfortable, kitchen very functional, and there was a nice collection of kitchen equipment. Loved the look of the cottage with the natural wood counters and trims, the pretty rural-themed art, and the pretty color-scheme. Very attractive and comfortable. One of my favorite things was the set of Royal Doulton Elegy china...perfect for enjoying a special meal, or a cup of hot tea.
Katie was very quick to respond, and had everything beautifully prepared for our arrival. Such a lovely person! Thank you, Katie, for all the special treats and the sweet vase of flowers for the dining table!
One reason we chose this location was because it was almost a straight shot from Manchester International. No time wasted winding into the more inward towns of the Lake District after a long international flight from America. We found it very convenient to branch out to all points in the Lake District, western Scotland, and all points east, as well. After visiting the busy tourist areas, it was peaceful to come back to the quiet farm cottage.
We had a great time at The Granary cottage! Such a beautiful area...awesome and inspiring!

recommended place to stay with style
After a 12 hour journey which should have taken 4 hrs, we were hoping that our cottage would be up to scratch, well, it was, the cottage is gorgeous, all the facilities that you would need are there, the cottage is located a few miles from Kendal, easy access to all areas in the Lake District, the weather was ideal for march, we carried out lots of walking and looked forward to coming back to the lovely cottage, we will definitely be returning next year.
