Really nice little house, comfortable and good lay out. Great check in experience! Valentine was very kind and welcoming! She gave us lots of recommendations. Bring a dvd movie you love, there’s a DVD player and not really any moves. You’ll want something to relax to at night and Japanese tv channels in English are super limited. Also, if you don’t speak much Japanese dining out can be tough here and most places needed reservations on top of that. I would plan your dinners out ahead of time (perhaps with translation help) and not just go walking around last minute. That was the only time I missed not having a concierge or reception help of hotel, but I’m sure Valentine would have helped if we had reached out. Thank you for great stay!

it is like being at home -no cleaning staff waiting for you to leave the room -very friendly introduction to the premises and Kanazawas sights by Valentine -very close to the railwaystation and Katamachi aerea -we shall be there again next year

A terrific little place to stay
I can't gush enough about this place. I was looking to stay somewhere more akin to a proper Japanese abode on my trip, and this very much fit the bill. Absolutely charming, great facilities, and the host was very helpful in showing me round and pointing out places of interest on a map. Good location for the station, places to eat and the Kenrokuen and castle gardens (both an absolute treat). Made my stay in Kanazawa much more enjoyable.

One night at the Aburaya House
Very nice experience in a traditional Japanese house but with all the modern confort. We've highly appreciated how Valentine and Chris made our very short stay in Kanazawa a very nice one. Chris waited for us at the corner of the street and briefed us about the city and everything you might need to know for having a good time. The house has everything you need - wifi, tv, fully equipped kitchen, washing machine, even 2 bicycles. We had a great time there and we recommend it.

Dream Accommodation in Kanazawa
Staying at Machiya Aburaya was, amongst all the other wonderful sights & experiences, a highlight of Kanazawa. A traditional, but modernised, Japanese house. Only a 10 minutes walk from Kanazawa station (with excellent directions provided), the property was still within walking distance of all the major attractions. It was comfortable (especially the beds!), spacious, spotless, well-equipped (washing, ironing, cooking) and quiet but more importantly warm and embracing. And, without giving too much away, a technological surprise.

Best accomodation for our entire holiday!
Staying at Kanazawa Machiya Aburaya was an amazing experience to soak up a bit of 'old Japan'. We have stayed at other places both in rural parts of Japan and also in the bigger and busier cities - this by far was our favourite. Convenient location, easy to walk anywhere and everywhere (also bikes for no charge if you don't fancy the walk) & Chris was a great host who gave us a lot of hot tips of where to go etc. I will definitely be recommending mates to stay here when they visit Japan in the future. It was great to not be in a 'hotel' situation but rather have your own little retreat - easy to hit the Omiecho markets and bring food pack to have the following morning.

Très jolie maison traditionnelle ! Nous avons vraiment apprécié notre séjour dans cette machiya à Kanazawa qui nous a immergé encore plus dans la culture ! Tout était parfait. Il y avait tous les équipements nécessaires pour notre séjour (cuisine équipé, vaisselles, machine à laver, produits d'hygiène etc). La maison est dans une rue pavillonnaire calme, à 1 min à pied d'un konbini (market ouvert h24), à 10min à pied de la gare et à 15-20 mins des lieux principaux à visiter (quartier des samouraïs, château, quartier des Geisha..)! Tae, l'hôte de la maison, s'est soucié de notre confort et s'est montré disponible avant et pendant le séjour ! De plus, toutes les informations pour utiliser les équipements de la maison ou visiter les lieux principaux étaient disponibles dans un classeur. Nous recommandons fortement !

Very cozy place and supportive staff
What was described was fully accurate. The place was clean, cozy and well-equipped. Before the stay, staff communicated with customer over email with reasonably fluent English. Useful reminders were given. After the stay, I requested late check-out and subject to the booking conditions, the arrangement was made. I was very happy staying at such local neighbourhood. Will come back definitely. Thanks to the housekeeper and the staff.
