Lovely little village to visit. Whale watch, dolphin encounters, seals, cute shops. Lots of dining and food options. And of course, the crayfish! One of my favourite plsces "where the mountains meet the sea:

Very nice downtown. We drove to the seal colony. So entertaining to watch the seals. We were there in February and saw many mom and pups. We also went on a whale watching tour. Very fun visit for us.

We loved Kaikoura. Just enough interesting things to do without it being overcrowded. Lovely seaside village. Not sure about the swimming because we saw undertow warning signs and the beach seemed rocky, but we weren't swimming.

Been to Kaikoura several times since 2018 - insanely how much it's expanded over the years. Try and drive out further for quiet hikes and beaches away from the hustle and bustle in town.

We came to Kaikoura 14 years ago and there was tons of sea lions laying all along the roadway. This place have not lost its charm and beautiful scenery.

Take a walk along the beach it is a beautiful lovely place to sit and have a picnic and watch all the wee fishing boats far away.
"Arrived late at night in the middle of a storm and was given really clear, easy to follow instructions on how to find and access the room after hours. Was welcomed to a warm room that was beautiful & spacious, bed was super comfy, and in the morning opened the curtains to a stunning view of the beach and the ocean - loved the stay here!"
