"Lovely staff BUT not a comfortable stay for female alone.
Arrived unsure if the hotel was actually functioning as all the lights were off in the smoked glass reception. It was 5.30pm and nearly dark.
Discovered there were only 2 other rooms booked.
Room was upgraded so larger but layout meant all plug sockets were inaccessible so all had extension leads. Seemed to be a drainage issue - looked and basin v slow.
As a lady alone....
Back door needs BOLTs not a twisty know that you can't check if its locked. No outside lighting so when I went out to dinner I had to use phone torch to lock door and to make sure I didn't fall over as no lighting until lane at front.
Remote on TV had flat batteries - popped to reception 15 mins after I checked in to find it closed until the morning.
The isolation and darkness made me feel vulnerable.
Apart from delightful staff and reasonable breakfast, not much I can add!"
"What a gorgeous place to stay..a very unique and boutique hotel and a real feeling of the history of this place. Beautiful decorations... very sweet comfortable room... and then how lovely stepping out of the hotel literally onto the beach! The meals in the restaurant were superb -with great attention to detail and using locally sourced fresh ingredients and flavours of Aotearoa.
I enjoyed a tasting flight of lovely local wine
Staff were all very genuine and friendly. I can't wait to book again with friends and family"
"The noise in the room from other guests was off the charts.
There is a central corridor connecting the rooms and all the noise from kids, people talking etc comes straight under the door into the room. I barely slept"
