Good budget hotel
Good hotel , stayed here before but has been refurbished since and is better.Staff are helpful and eager to please. Breakfast is fine but could do with changes on some days to give a bit of variety. Good location but on a steep road which has limited vehicle access during the daytime, so be prepared to walk to hotel with your luggage. We would go again

Fantastic Hotel next to Grand Bazaar
Very good hotel to stay in and staff are all very helpful. The rooms were cleaned everyday. Tea and coffee was complimentary all the time and in plentiful supply. Location wise its a few minutes from the Grand Bazaar. There is a bit of a hill to walk at the beginning of hotel entrance but we never struggled. My 3 year old daughter strolled up the hill. (3-4 minutes up hill) The Blue Mosque/Topkapi Palace/Hagia Sophia were literally 10 minutes casual walk on a flat road. There is a tram outside Grand Bazaar and if you prefer to catch the tram its 2 stops to Blue Mosque and the main attractions. To get to the ferries its a further 3-4 stops to Eminonu and the cost on tram is 3.5 turkish liras. You need to buy the Istanbul Digital travel Card from the stations for 6 turkish liras and then keep topping up. The card is used for the all the transports there - trams/buses/underground train/metro train/ferries. For currency exchange you get much better rates near the Grand Bazaar area where our hotel was.

Surprised about how nice the rooms were , they were always kept clean and location was great especially for tourists, the breakfast lounge was very unique. Though the stairs were slightly steep there wasn’t a fix for this anyway especially as most of the building are of older age.

Very Shabby and Horrible Hotel- Not recomended!!!!
On line pictures by no means match the reality of the hotel. It was THE WORST hotel I have ever stayed. The wardrobe was broken, remote controls for TV and Air conditioner were battered and had no batteries. Curtains were not washed for the past many years, No tea making facilities were in the room, despite asking on numerous occasions they did not provide it. Shower rail was broken and was coming out of the wall, shower head was broken too. Lose electrical wires were hanging out in the bathroom. Despite informing on first day, and many other occasions, nothing was done to mend broken furniture and bathroom equipment. Rooms were cleaned only every other day. Have taken photos to prove my claims, happy to send it to anyone wants. A totally rubbish place to stay! WILL NOT RECOMMEND IT AT ALL!!!!!

Friendly helpful staff and pleasant stay
This hotel is located in a small road and has so many eating places and shops and tram station all at walking distance! Mcdonald and burger king and turkish reataurants all around the corner and shopping was awsome as there was everything at walkong distance including the famous grand bazaar! Hotel staff was super nice and helpful. Buffet was okay. Not overly good as it was mostly cold things but was enough for breakfast. Everything was always clean. We had the top floor room and terrace with a sea view and could sea ships sailing from the window! The hotel could do with some maintanence work and downside was no lift! With kids it was not easy going up and down to the room but staff helped everyday.

Booked this property for 4 nights initially.
Due to terrible hotel condition, checked out the very next day & checked in into a nice hotel at Sultan Ahmet. There is no access for taxi or any vehicle to this hotel after 10 AM till about 6 PM. Had to pull our baggage all the way uphill on foot to get in there. Staff is nice & co-operative, but overall condition of hotel is disastrous. Bed linens were unclean, room was not dusted properly. We had booked a triple room for me, my wife & my child. The third bed was located in the window of the room which was very tiny.

This was advertised as 4 stars. Nothing can be further from the truth. This was an underwhelming hoteling experience. The only saving grace was the very helpful friendly and helpful staff. If you want a 3 or 4 star experience than gives this one a miss.

Nice hotel, convenient location
Nice hotel, convenient location just down the street from Beyazid T1 tram station and walking distance from all old city Sultanahmet attractions. Lots of ok money exchange places, lots of places to eat and orange and pomegranate juices carts just on the street. after reading lots of reviews I was afraid of the cleanliness of the room, but it wasn't any issue here, so the room was ok when we got it and the cleaning lady did her job well each and every morning. the only issue we had was that there was a problem with the pipes in the bathroom because they were all leaking and we had to lay towels after using the shower, sink or toilet.

Good location but disappointing overall
The hotel did not look as it did on the pictures and generally is in need of a refurb - carpets, rugs, interior decor, general building work. It is well situated but could be so much better. Breakfast is ok but again could have been better - the coffee was awful. More fruit would have been good. The staff, apart from one chap on reception, were not helpful and rather dour. The first night we arrived they moved us to a different hotel down the road, the Sayeban, which was much nicer with much friendlier and more helpful staff. We wished we had stayed there instead!

Very convenient location.
The hotel is in a perfect location in order to visit the historical sights. (Blue mosque, Grand bazaar, Tokapi palace). Some good restaurants nearby. The staff are pleasant and helpful. The only downside is that it is quite noisy at night, however that is quite unavoidable in a bustling city such as 'Istanbul'. The breakfast provided in the morning was nice however more could be added to cater to International guests. Overall a good experience.

Certainly not a 4 star hotel
The photos on the site are totally misleading. The hotel is not bad but it certainly not in the standards of a 4 star hotel. On their site it says they arrange airport transfer for 80 TL (Turkish Liras) but when I asked to be picked up from the airport they quoted 60 euros (168 TL. More than double). When sent them a copy of the text on their site they replied that prices are fixed. When trying to organize transfer TO the airport the receptionist told me the price is 100TL and a taxi will await us at 6am. Needless to say there was no taxi and the night guy said prices are fixed and are 130TL. prices were fixed but each time are different? We stayed in a different entrance of the hotel. At 6am the night guy was sleeping and even after we managed to wake him knocking on the glass door he still was sitting up in his bed for over 5 min., not moving and leaving up outside in the cold with 2 little kids. He couldn't care less!! The hotel is only a 5 min walk from the Grand Bazaar and 10 min from the blue mosque. We felt safe walking with kids even at night. Bottom line. If you expect a luxury hotel this place is not for you. If you are no frill person and they have a promotion it might be worth considering staying. Nothing really bad happened but for the price we expected good things to happen and they didn't. If it wasn't for the night guy, experience would have been much better

There is no arguing that the hotel is in a great location, but there is no way this hotel is four stars. The rooms were adequate, as was the breakfast. My original room was literally outside the hotel in a building next door with a non descript entrance. They call it the maiden tower. Only after complaining to hotels.com was my room changed. The front desk was friendly and . Think 3 stars and you may not be disappointed. Think 4 starts and you will be

Very disappointed! Not near 4star rating
I was very disappointed with the hotel and the room they've given us, It's nothing like the pictures on their website. I booked a family room for four of us but we was given a attic room, they've put 1double bed and two single bed to fit us all. There was not much space to move in the room. The toilet smelled a lot. After complaining they've offered us other rooms which was in very poor condition too. At the end they've offered us a two bedroom apartment which was 0 star. We had no choice other then to accept. Not happy with the breakfast was offered. They served same thing everyday. Overall very disappointed with our stay, the hotel is not near to 4 star rating. I would say 3star. The hotel staff was very helpful and happy with their services.

The biggest mistake of my life
I don't know how to start, is it ranked as a 4 star hotel? why? In any European country it wouldn't take more than 1 star. Dirty, old, plenty of dust but the best thing is when we arrived to the hotel and they said that the room is not available as the current guest decided not to check out so we would have to move to another hotel with sea views, much better than this one, totally new and better access. We decided to go and take a look when for our surprise it wasn't a hotel, it was one of the staff apartment, in a non recommended neighborhood (old, almost in ruins, very far and plenty of gypsies and drug dealers). The apartment was inside a two floor building but better not to describe that, let's go back to the hotel. After we declined the offer they moved us to an "annex of the hotel" with 3 beds in a 15 sqft meters room, with no lights, with the ceiling falling apart, dirty, no phone, no internet and with cockroaches on the entrance. The bed sheets, full of holes and some of them with Blood! (what the hell!?), and the pillows without cover. The neighborhood, not recommendable at night unless you go with precaution and in group. Later we found out that there are better hostels near the blue mosque at similar price. Please look for alternatives very carefully and read the reviews. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!

At first, it was hilly old area so I was worried about security. But the hotel stuff were very helpful and offered upgrade to suite. The room was on top floor so needed to climb up the stairs, but big and clean which my kids(8 and 9year gilrs) loved it. The first day we tried to discover the area and found it is very close to the Grand Bazaar and old town (Blue Mosque, etc.), convenient to public transport, local restaurants were good.Breakfast is not fancy but good enough to start a day. Kids like the steep hill and location but if you have a little baby with buggy, this might be difficult to manage. Overall, we enjoyed the experience of Istanbul and the hotel.

Dreadful service
We were put in an apartment around the corner because the hotel had overbooked. There was no apology for this, even though we had booked months in advance of the trip. The apartment building was not up to standard & was nothing like the standard of the photos on the hotel website. They refused to give us any money back but eventually promised free flights transfers to compensate. At checkout they denied ever saying this & made us pay the transfer cost without apology. The bathroom door fell off during our stay & when we reported that to a member of staff he started shouting at us to move out of the apartment round the corner & in to the main hotel as he now wanted the apartment rooms back to give to someone else. Really unpleasant experience.

This hotel is advertising rooms they do NOT have!
I booked and paid for a large family room with 6 beds through Expedia. This same room was listed on several reputed websites. When I arrived they gave me a much smaller room with only 4 beds. Neither the manager nor the owner were remotely interested in rectifying the situation. Their attitude was simply "speak to Expedia". They argued that Expedia had misled me and not them, and they refused to accept it was their problem even though they provide the details to the third party websites. I presented them with several options eg. giving me two small rooms, refunding me so I can go elsewhere etc etc, but it was all in vain as they refused to help in any way. Once I complained to Expedia, they were quick to move me to another room, but by this time it was too little too late as we were already half way into our holiday! I would also like to stress, the hill to climb to get to the main road is very very steep, and will take almost 10mins to cover. It is NOT recommended for senior citizens and young children! The reason I've given them 2 stars and not 1 is because the hotel itself and the rooms were of a decent quality. It's a shame they were let down with their poor attitude.

I am very sorry to express my disapointment at arriving at Hotel Gedik Pasa Konagi on 22 October 2013 and learning that I was given a Single delux Room instead of the Double delux room that I had reserved through Hotels.com a month in advance. The room was no 103 on the ground floor with a cramped bathroom and not enough space to manouver around the toilet to use the sink. Not worthy of the 'discounted' 51.92 Euro price tag I had paid. When i asked the gentlman at reception about the room he said it was a double Room. When i proceeded to point out that the hotels own website description sugested I had been given a single room instead he agreed only to say that no double rooms were available but he may be able to do something in the morning. I pointed out that due to the fact that I had a 1 night stay only this would be useless to me. Another point of contention was the fact that the room I was given had a very poor internet connection not the 'High Speed Internet' as advertised. The room was advertised as having tes and coffe making facilities but none were provided. All the above was discussed with the receptionist but he was adamant that no further rooms were available. When i returned to the room i found that the hotel website was advertising a further 3 double rooms as available! I am surpised how a hotel can act in such an unprofessional manner to not honour a reservation. I emailed the above to the hotel but have not yet recieved a reply or an appology.
