Opposite San Marcos Church lies what is perhaps the town’s most famous landmark: the El Drago (the Dragon Tree). Said to be the oldest living tree in the world, it was named for the red sap that drips from it when the bark is pierced. In times past, the sap was used for healing and mummification.
