"Check in was very fast My room was 1037 Big and clean Fast internet Breakfast: Simple but very good. Shrimp and pork dumplings were to die for. I ate 10 of them. All hotel staff was very nice. They called a taxi right away when I needed one. No laundry facilities but the front office was able to locate one for me This hotel is next to the river with great night views of the Oriental Pearl Tower. I had a facial at the Spa. The lady that helped me was very nice. "

"We had to move rooms twice because the rooms were dirty. The first room the carpets/floor hadn't been cleaned, there was crumbs of food all over the floor and on the chair within the room. We informed the front desk, who were actually very good, and were told it would be cleaned by the time we were back from a walk. It hadn't been cleaned some 5 hours later so they move us. "Very good sleep and they gave my family and I a free upgrade to one with a jacuzzi. Reflective of Banyan Tree's standards and the experience exceeded my expectations!"

"Room was spacious and classically furnished. Some of the furniture, drapery, and lobby finishes were a bit worn, but to be expected in an older, historic hotel. The staff was friendly and accommodating and spoke English which made check-in and out easier. I would stay at this hotel again. "

"Good location at the end of the Bunds. River view is great if room is in the mid or right section of the building facing towards the city night lights. Staff understand some English. Walk to the Yuyang old street and Yu garden is about 20mins. "

"This hotel might barely qualify as four stars in China, but is more like a three- or even 2.5-star in other countries. It is very tired and smells everywhere of cigarette smoke. Having said that, the staff were reasonably helpful (though nearly failed to return my deposit). The location is very good if you are visiting Fudan University, though the nearby Crowne Plaza might be more comfortable. It is a short walk to Line 3 on the subway and very safe (as is most of China). I would stay here again...
