"This hotel was truly the highlight of our trip! My husband and I visited for our honeymoon and the staff went out of their way to upgrade us to the nicest suite in the hotel. This gesture was something we will never forget and made our trip beyond memorable. Special shout out to Nana, Aina, Mai and Yoshi for going the extra mile and making our experience that much more special and memorable. We will never forget this staff and the things they did to make us feel so special. "

"The location is great- steps from the train station. Not a lot nearby in terms of food and most things close early when the tourists leave for the day. Which means it’s pretty quiet at night. Rooms are good size, not cramped like most of Japan. Windows barely open and the AC was not working well when we were there. "

"This property is very cheap for the size and quality of the room. There was some questionable stains on the couch but besides that everything else was rather clean for the nature of the hotel"

"Lovely 100-year old house repurposed as guest house. Modern additions such as air con and shower room added around original building with wooden sliding doors and futon beds. Lovely, helpful owners met us and showed us everything - thank you!"

"This place is a great stay, has everything you need in the room including cookware, dishes, a good amount of space. They have a lot of recommendations on restaurants and shopping and even have a manual in the room to show you how to use everything in the room."

"What a neat spot to spend your time in Kyoto! First of all, just by the Nijo station so you can go everywhere easily. Also a wide variety of restaurants nearby in walking distance. The breakfast is great if you're staying <5 days, but for more than that, it might get a bit repetitive as there are no new options in rotation. Staff are super friendly and helpful, I even asked them about a reservation at a restaurant which appeared to be fully booked for weeks, they went out their way to call and set up a spot for us that very night, which we definitely couldn't due to our broken Japanese :)"
"During my trip to Japan I stayed in 12 different places and Ben's guesthouse was the most convenient and comfortable. The little kitchen, bathroom, and in-room washing machine made me feel at home. "
