I love this charming spacious home. It was conveniently located close to downtown and other amenities (farmers market, cafes, grocery stores, restaurants, etcetera) with allocated free parking. The home was well equipped with an array of potential needs we may have had as travelers (e.g., beach towels, shampoo, cooler for picnics). They also provided plenty of information about the area which we found very helpful because Hilo was our base to explore Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, the Hamakua Coast and Volcano National park. They also provided cultural literature which we appreciated because for us this was also a cultural trip. Overall, this was an excellent location (safe and quiet) to explore other areas.

Very well equipped. Just wish more than the bedroom was air conditioned. Other than that everything was great. My husband and I both really enjoyed the place. We would stay there again

Big surprise. The house is like staying in a family home surrounded by beautiful cuckoo clocks and other items of a long lost past. Magic garden.

Horrible Host and Nightmare Neighbor

This woman threatens to slash the tires of anyone parked on Kukuau Street who doesn't stay on her property. All around nasty person, no aloha spirit- puts out orange cones (illegally) on the street to keep people from parking near her place. If you do she threatens to call police or do damage to your vehicle. Many other places to stay- don't endorse this bad behavior. Aloha

Es war eine voll eingerichtete Wohnung. Viel Deko überall. Machte es nett, aber auch irgendwie voll. Ich hatte leichte Probleme mich dort mit meinen Sachen/Reisegepäck zu integrieren, weil überall etwas herumstand oder herumlag. Das angepriesene Frühstück war etwas übertrieben dargestellt, es gab Kaffee und für 4 Nächte ein paar kleine Sachen, die man auch zum Frühstück verzerren konnte, aber es war halt kein Frühstück. Alles in allem aber eine nette, wenn auch gewöhnungsbedürftige Unterkunft in Hilo. Sehr nette Terasse zum draußen sitzen mit Blick in einen schönen Garten. Sehr viele Coqui Frösche. Da kann mal nach gegoogelt werden :)

Yes.

This place was so amazing I don't ever want to choose a hotel again. I'm going to look up guest houses from here on out. The place was eclectic and thoughtful with a bunch of little touches and it felt like authentic Hawaii.

Enjoyed the property and the ambience very much. Kawehi has done an excellent job is providing everything, even to the minutest detail. Enjoyed the garden and outside pergola very much. Plenty of room in this very quaint house which was private with a separate entrance. Excellent, thanks Kawehi!

Experience living Hawaiian-style!

This very Hawaiian-style home is so sweet! Antiques throughout, very clean, open-air screening surrounds, and lots of amenities: great Kona coffee, arrival croissants/pastries, comfy beds/pillows,etc. Very spacious. Wine available for a minimal charge. Great place to stay close to Hilo coastal area, and experience living there!

Quaint Guest House

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Hale Kawehi. Clean, comfortable and supplied with anything you would need for an enjoyable stay. Conveniently located near Old Town Hilo. Charming Inn Keeper and very helpful with suggestions of wonderful restaurants and sites to visit.

ラブリーなインテリアに囲まれた非日常の空間を満喫しました。観光に出かけるのが（部屋を使う時間が減るのが）もったいないと感じるくらい魅力的でした。お部屋もお庭も、二人で過ごすにはもったいない広さでした。カエルの鳴き声、鳥のさえずり、風鈴の音色、、なんとも言えず心地よく耳に響いて、快適でした。

Gracious hostess, lovely home, great location on a beautiful island. Perfect vacation in every way, in many ways because of the hostess and her abode. Reasonably priced, one mile from downtown Hilo and quick trip to airport, better side of the island to be on. Kawehi, our hostess, was beautiful inside and out, and great to deal with.

Fabulous Hilo Home

This home was more than exceptional. The host anticipated all our needs and wants. The house was uniquely old Hawaiian. We woke to the sounds of the water fixtures on the lanai's (yes multiple lanai's), fresh pastry and coffee provide by the host. Kewehi. The gardens were lovely. - The stocked wine was perfect for the evening after a long day of touring. Kewehi also provided lots of literature and books so we found some places to visit that were off the beaten path. We could not have asked for a better experience. We are recommending this house to everyone we know who plan a trip to Hilo Marian & Ian; August 2015

Cute place

The place is filled with unique antique looking things. It provided everything we needed (fridge, kitchen and kitchen appliance) it was a very comfortable stay. The only negative thing I have to say was that the two days I stayed there, the weather was hotter than usual so sleeping at night was a little hard just because it was very warm. It helped with opening the windows and putting on two fans but It was pretty warm.

Surprisingly good

Really nice. Bedroom and bathroom has a private, locked door. Kitchen and living room are huge. Easy 20 minute walk to the waterfront shops. About a 45 minute drive to Volcsnoes National Park. Only negative is the outside noise. There's a barking dog next door (does not bark at night) and the birds/frogs make a racquet. That said, I slept fine, but the host does provide ear plugs if you have issues sleeping in noisy surroundings.

Very Nice Home-like Place

This is a really nice guesthouse with a kitchen, fridge, dining areas, multiple porches, plenty of sofas and recliners. The gardens are nice. The location is great, close to Hilo and close to a lot of attractions. Laundry service is available for a very nominal charge. The owner is very friendly and very knowledgable.
