Economic place to stay half way on the Melbourne to Sydney trip. Clean and comfortable. I travel this route often and always look for something away from the highway to limit the traffic noise. I know from experience that the trucks go all night. This looked to fit that criteria but it's high on a hill with no buffer between the highway and the room even though it's a distance away. So you will have some traffic noise. But very happy apart from that so if you're a heavy sleeper I don't think you'll do much better in Gundagai
convenient location, comfortable bed ,clean room, need to replace soap cannisters...some had run out....overall a good night, good tips from the managers about counter food meals in Gundagai.
Do go to the Mt Parnassus lookout!
The room had had a facelift which looked ok.
BUT The bed and mattress were very old and poor quality. It also was only on small castors. Very low to floor and the mattress slipped partially off overnight. Terribly uncomfortable.
We left early in the morning
basic motel on the outskirts of town. the room was quite hood. newish refurb to the bathroom and new floors in room. nice country outlook from window. the condition of the outside of the motel was quite run down.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
It was what you pay for. Not really close to town at all so you’ve got to drive in. Check-in fine. Property isn’t in the best condition but it’s all clean enough.
Great calue fir money. Room was really nice and had a lovely rural outlook. Pool was nice, gorgeous bathroom. Very pleased with tge decision to stay here.
The Motel itself was nice enough. Close to town, they have taken a lot of care upgrading facilities. Easy check-in.
However, the bed had hairs and marks all on the dooner and pillows looked slept on. There were 2 x dirty towels still hanging in the bathroom and food crumbs all in the fridge. We could not relax or trust anything else was clean and did not get a response from the establishment until the following day when they replied they were sorry but had only jusy received the message.
There was no apologies for the state of the room or follow up questions. Wont stay again.
Some people like their experience with the Garden Motor Inn.
We were very grateful for clean linen.
We were exhausted after having a busy fortnight in Melbourne and needing to complete our journey to Newcastle the next day.
The bathroom looked like it was not cleaned. It needed a lot of bleach. I had booked in for a luxury queen suite and we had a third rate room instead.
Management NEED to give ‘room service staff’ plenty of time to get their units cleaned and sanitised. I did my service course some years ago and I know the expectations of management and the time factor.
Good - size of room, friendly staff, comfortable bed, quiet. But - this is a 60s style country motel and it is showing its age on the outside. Room is ok for this style of motel however the bathroom was due for a refurbishment.
The grounds were attractive. The room was clean and neat and the bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately the air conditioning was not very good. It took hours to warm the room which on a cold winter’s night was a bit of a concern.
