The property has been restored and the bars restaurants all have been done to the highest standards. However the accommodation rooms have not been done to the same standards. The toilet in my room faced a wall , leaving my knees hard against a wall when I sat on it . The shower outlet was at shoulder level , meaning I had to get on my knees to was my hair. The towels were placed in a broken cupboard above the fridge. Nowhere near the shower . The windows did not the the views I was expecting. Most of the staff were helpful and friendly. With the exception of 2 senior male staff members who were both unfriendly un helpful and aggressive. I will never return to this expensive hotel.

We loved sitting by the fireplace in the lounge area! The room we had chosen with the Valleyview was spectacular. 👍 We were most impressed that the room we had was cleaned and fresh bed linen and of course towels replaced every day. Having the bedlinen changed every day doesn’t always happen in hotels these days.

Stayed for 1 night on a Sunday. Exterior of this grand hotel is run down, dirty and balconies falling apart and shut off. Disappointing you can not walk down the valley for the views. Some wings were cut off and shut down. Gardens average not maintained so well. Rusty electric box and pathway to view dirty cardboard area. Restaurants, boiler house and Pavillion cafe was excellent. Breakfast buffet very good. Inside was lovely and bar area grand. Room had a great valley view. Very small though and bathroom door hit the bed. Some hall ways need a paint. Shower pressure average. Love the period features though and grand entrance. Blue tiles on the roof were faded. Images look photo shopped on line. Fences all dirty and need a paint. It has seen better days. Needs some overall maintenance.

For the price the breakfast was very poor. As a vegetarian I was surprised to see bacon in the beans. No grilled tomato, no hash browns, limited fruit. Good range of pastries and the omelet I ordered was good. My tea pot leaked all over the table so that didn’t help my mood!!

The views from the hotel are out of this world. Whilst the rooms are snug they have everything you need with an amazing view to wake up to. Staff are friendly and helpful. Overall a great stay.

We enjoyed a 2 night escape from the city and were delighted with this gracious, fascinating hotel. The history of the Hydro and the beautifully updated interiors were an unexpected bonus, also, the charming bar with spectacular views. The delicious breakfasts, again with stunning views left us disappointed we had other plans for dinner. The staff were all friendly and professional and our room was well furnished and immaculate. We look forward to another stay.

Room was spotless and had the most magnificent view, was small but is what you would expect of an historic hotel. Was amazing to step back into the past. Staff were fantastic and obviously loved their job.
