This long-running show is a Nashville institution and the stage on which it's held the mothership of country music fans right across the world.

From its humble beginnings as a "barn dance" back in 1925, the Grand Ole Opry has gone on to become the longest-running radio show in United States history. With live broadcasts throughout the year on Friday and Saturday nights, and on Tuesdays between March and December, the show includes performances by everything from living country legends to exciting new bluegrass and gospel acts. Snap up your tickets online or through the box office and get over to Grand Ole Opry House on the banks of the Cumberland River to be part of the audience at this legendary music event. The building situated just 14.5 kilometres from Nashville city centre has been the home of the Opry since 1974. The show has been relocated a number of times down through the years, though the stage remains as famous as ever. The physical stage in Grand Ole Opry House still contains the dark oak circle carved from the original stage at the Ryman Auditorium. In actual fact, the show still returns to the Ryman Auditorium each winter, which may have something to do with the theatre being known as the "Mother Church of Country Music". Take a backstage tour of Grand Ole Opry House for a chance to set foot on the iconic circle where heroes such as Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash have gone before. Backstage tours run throughout the week and include everything from daytime visits to post-show tours. It's worth noting that you cannot bring food into the building from outside. While there are stands selling drinks and snacks inside, if you want something more substantial, it might be an idea to have dinner before your visit.Next door to Grand Ole Opry House is the Grand Ole Opry Museum where you can see exhibits of clothes, guitars and possessions of the industry's great and good. Allow an hour or two to visit here before you move on to the main event.
