"Amazing place to stay, my kids enjoy the little yard outside with a nice view. Apparently this is meant for family with pets, it still works out well for my family of 4. "

"Loved the space. Lots of small details included, facilities were fantastic, great sleep and brilliant view of Fuji. Loved that it was walking distance to the lake too."

"This was my first time staying in a Ryokan, the staff were very helpful, the room was a fantastic size, and the personal onsen was perfect. Transport here is surprisingly convenient for being in the mountains. The only downside I had was whomever was staying on the floor above was very heavy footed and caused me to wake up at 3am."

"Exceptional service and facility.
A bit outside of Hakone but a great location for folks who need to stay away from the city and people. The small town/ Sengokuhara is also great - a ton of museums and good restaurants. All walking distance. "

"We had a wonderful two night stay here. Excellent value for money. The place was clean, really well equipped, comfy and lots of space. The view is amazing and having it from the onsen was even better. The staff were so nice and kind. They really helped us when our daughter needed medical assistance. Can't thank them enough. "

"This is a standout hotel in Japan. It’s 3 months old and the website does it not justice. The hotel and grounds are spectacular, the facilities (spa, gym, lounges, restaurants) are beautiful. We stayed in a room the size of an apartment, with both an indoor and out hot spa. The hotel manager has 15+ years of experience at Ritz hotel and brings the shame charm, insight and guest experience to the Gora Kadan Fuji. The entire team were delightful, including the wonderful driver who waited for us whilst we visited Fuji-speedway nearby.
The food is exceptional.
My only regret is we didn’t stay one or two more nights. It was a welcome tonic after the craziness of Tokyo!
Hands down the best hotel we stayed at in Japan.
Book it, you won’t regret it. "
"I am really suprised how much I liked this hotel. It's quite old and rooms need a proper refresh, however it was really clean and spacious. Traditional style was a great experience! (There is an instruction in the room how to do the futon).
Staff doesn't speak English very well, however I was able to communicate with them enough, so it wasn't an issue at all. They also have printed papers with the most important details in English. To sum up, they were really nice and helpful.
Hotel is located next to the bus station, where there are buses to popular towns around Fuji. Generally, having a car would be a plus, however I only used the public transport and can say that's doable (local commute and express busses to Mishima, Tokyo, Gotemba etc.). It's a calm place (I was there in Dec 25), that is definitely not as crowded as e.g. Fujikawaguchiko nearby.
I have to also mention about the hotel's location and its views that are really amazing. Lake Yamanakako is sooooo beautiful. Really, there is no need to go to more touristic places to see wonderful things. There are planty of places around to hike and of course to do great photos of mount Fuji. To sum up, I highly recommend this hotel!"
"Unique and modern cabin located within a forest in Yamanakako. The cabin is very close to the town’s main street and is a great choice if you’re staying in the Mt. Fuji area."
"Hospitality is incomparable when contacted to take taxi the hostess was more then willing to help with transportation, it feels like staying at your grandmothers home away from home "
"The property is nice and Quiet. You can hear the forest talk in the morning. And morning walks to the local village was one of my highlights of my stay. The owner help me a lot and went way out of the way to help me. I hopped on a plane from America to Japan with a backpack and a few days worth of clothes. I don’t speak Japanese and had never been to Japan. They helped me navigate the train system in Japan and get me to the nearest station and had a driver come pick me up. I went to Japan to see the Super GT Rd. 2 at Fuji Speedway. They helped me get taxis to and from the track for the race and qualifying days. That really set them apart. Never did they not answer my question. I had a lot. I owe my always trip to Japan being such a good experience to them! I recommend this 10/10! A nice small Japan house for an average family. At a good price! "
