About this property
Perfect Bourbon Trail Couple Getaway
Beautiful, quiet and relaxing spot on the banks of the Elkhorn Creek in the idyllic community of Peaks Mill. Perfect for a romantic couple getaway either on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail or simply trying to unplug and reconnect.
This wonderful cottage unplugs from the real world and allows a chance to sit-a-spell on the wonderful screened in back porch while taking in the beauty of the Elkhorn Creek. Bring a kayak, canoe or fishing pole and enjoy all the wonderful stream has to offer right from your backyard. Perfectly situated just doors up from the famous Canoe Kentucky!
The cottage is perfect for a couple, or possibly a couple with one small child. It has four rooms: a comfortable living room with futon couch and rocking chair, along with a fully usable wood stove; a bedroom with one queen size bed, comfortable sheets and even "Mimi's" homemade afghans; a sitting room with a great bench looking out over the creek and old school games to bring back memories from yesteryear; a wonderful fully stocked kitchen, with electric stove, coffee maker and refrigerator/ freezer. The bathroom is small, but comfy, with a walk in shower and novel homemade sink.
The highlight spot in the home is likely the wonderful screened in back porch with twin porch swings, and cozy wicker furniture. A good long book is all you need to enjoy this space. Even in the hot summer months, the ceiling fans and the shade make this a comfortable spot, and the frogs and crickets at night might just find you falling a sleep on the porch!
Located perfectly for the kayaker or canoeist, the Elkhorn Creek is the states most popular stream for these two activities. Canoe Kentucky offers rentals on the creek, and you can even end right in your own backyard, where they will pick the boat up from you later!
The house is also very close to Frankfort and the center of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Only 10 miles from Buffalo Trace, and slightly farther to Woodford Reserve, Four Roses, Castle and Key, Glenn's Creek, Whiskey Thief and Wild Turkey. Also close to the great restaurants and shopping of downtown Frankfort, Kentucky.
This house is not only perfect for bourbon fans, paddlers, and fishermen and women, but also for those wanting to enjoy Frankfort, the Kentucky State Capital. A short drive gets you to the Capital building, the Library and Archives, the Governors Mansion and most state offices. As well, located nearby is the Kentucky History Museum,, the Frankfort Museum, Fish and Wildlife's Salato Center, Rebecca Ruth Candies, and the Kentucky River. A great way to see much of this would be with our business, The Bourbon Boat aka Kentucky River Tours, who offers river history cruises and are considered one of the number one reviewed attractions in Frankfort. Of course we obviously recommend!
Lastly., the home is conveniently located near many of Kentucky's horse farms, as well as the Keeneland Race Track, only 20 minutes away. Downtown Lexington is 30 minutes away. The Ark Encounter is 60 minutes away, as well as downtown Louisville.
On top of this great location, we, the hosts, are Kentucky Bourbon Trail experts. We have been working in the Bourbon Trail world as guides for over 20 years! All this knowledge allows us to offer those booking this house to be given exclusive planning itineraries, tips and bourbon secrets. We are also very knowledgeable on the best local restaurants, bars and nightlife, scenic drives, historic spots and more; many of them are lesser known and therefore, "secrets". All of this allows making planning for you more enjoyable for you and more memorable for those joining you. Allow is to be your "Local Concierge"!

We truly enjoyed our stay and will most certainly be back! The hosts were wonderful, and the cabin was clean, cozy, and well-maintained. Thank you for sharing your beautiful place with us!
While this is an older small property it's very cozy, kept clean, and just what we needed for a few days of quiet & relaxation. Would highly recommend!
It was a very relaxing place to stay. Listening to the sound of the creek and birds was soothing. The host was gracious and communication was excellent.
This cabin was a great staycation that was still close to attractions but secluded enough to disconnect. We enjoyed the screen in porch the most of our stay but Nathan and Allison were fantastic hosts. We even went out on the bourbon boat for the old Taylor tour that ended with a tour of Buffalo Trace!
We truly enjoyed the serenity of Creekside Cottage. Loved the screened in back porch with two porch swings and party lights. Very clean quaint retreat. Our dog liked being at the cottage too. Nathan is an excellent easy to reach host!
Delightful, relaxing vacation at this sweet cabin. We were able to relax, as well find many fun and interesting things to do on Bourbon Trail.Felt like being at home.Thank you Allison and Nathan for being such warm and caring hosts.Diane and Paul
This lovely little creekside cottage was everything it was advertised to be and more. The huge screened in back porch was our refuge. We spent mornings there drinking our coffee and identifying all of the birds, and evenings just relaxing and listening to the creek. The cabin was clean, comfortable and well furnished. We would gladly stay again and recommend!
If you are looking for a peaceful place and don’t mind driving about 15 minutes to get to bars/restaurants, distilleries, and other entertainment then this is absolutely the place for you. We had a wonderful time staying here. Had everything we needed and made it work with a small bathroom. Our dog was also comfortable in the home and we felt safe leaving him there when we ran out to explore.
We had a great stay at this cabin this past weekend. It was the perfect distance from town, 10min, to have solitude, but close enough to explore Frankfort. We enjoyed being able to sit on the screen porch in the mornings. Nathan and Alison were great hosts! Also if you get a chance we recommend taking a trip on the Bourbon Boat tours they offer. The Sunset Tour was exactly what we needed at the end of the day.
We had a great time at the cabin. We came to the area to do some kayaking on Elkhorn Creek. This was the perfect place to stay. The proximity to the creek, Canoe Kentucky, and downtown Frankfort made it easy to do everything we wanted. The screened in porch was the perfect place to watch the lightning bugs every night. The owners were friendly, communicative, and made great recommendations for things to do in the area. Highly recommended!
Very nice stay. The cabin was equipped with everything we need including recommendations. The cabin is located near water for kayaking and probably fishing. It is quiet and serene. The only thing was the lighting outside. We arrived after 11pm and it was pitch black. They did have a solar light, but it must have died out by that hour.
First, the cabin is very clean with a good kitchen and comfortable bedroom. The location by the creek is really nice and the screen porch is fantastic. However, the bathroom is very cramped. The toilet is especially problematic if you are tall because it is quite low and positioned very closely to the opposing wall. Also, the road is fairly close and can be quite loud. Thankfully, the traffic died down after bedtime. I would love to give this 5 stars because of the super nice owners but in fairness, I cannot.
A five star, blue ribbon, gold cup, first rate property. The setting, nestled along the banks of Elkhorn Creek, is a balm and a treat for bird watching and other indigenous animals in the area. The back porch is the highlight, accompanied by the sounds of birds and the Creek's current. Creekside Cottage is pet-friendly, and my senior German Shepherd sat mesmerized by the native wildlife and basked in the natural light and gentle breezes. The side yard had room for her to explore to her heart's content. Ceiling fans in each room kept the house extremely comfortable. The hosts recommendations for dining and area sites to visit were spot on. Canoe KY is a world class paddling outfitter and an easy walk from the cottage.Another stay at Creekside Cottage is definitely in our future. Nathan and Allison are fantastic hosts for a stay loaded with superlatives. Frankfort, KY, is a great town. The cottage is the perfect place to stay with exploring the area.
Great quiet place to stay 15-20 minutes north of Frankfort KY where the bourbon touring is located. Hands down, the screened in porch was our favorite! Great communication with owner, very nicely decorated with everything needed to make our stay complete. Would definitely come back again to stay.
This cottage is such a sweet escape from the hustle and bustle of life. Allison & Nathan have created a beautiful space to relax. The screened in porch is ideal for morning coffee or quiet evenings watching the fireflies and listening to the cricket frogs. Be sure to go kayaking in the creek behind the house! Highly recommend this quaint cottage!

My husband and I really enjoyed our time at the house. The best part of the house was the back porch. Sooo relaxing listening to the river while rocking in the swing. The porch was screened in, so we never had issues with bugs while hanging out. I would consider the house to be 'rustic'. Very comfortable and we had everything we needed.
