The Captain invites you to sink in and relax while he is out to sea, which is quite arguably his real home. He has left behind a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom guest home in Poinsettia Heights. It sleeps 4 people in beds. The home is within a few miles of Fort Lauderdale Beach and is close to Wilton Manor, downtown, and more.

From the neon anchor to the Crosley Bluetooth speaker, The Rum Locker is a place best discovered by travelers who decide to visit. Its unique design and playful decor make it an ideal escape from reality.

LOCATION
Poinsettia Heights is a centrally located quiet neighborhood in the heart of Fort Lauderdale. Steps away from vibrant Wilton Manors and the Beach, and a short drive to Miami, the area is a perfect location to explore South Florida from.

The Captain’s Quarters is perfect for those guests who decide not to rent a car. Sunrise Blvd, Federal Highway (US1), and the adorable outcrop that is dubbed 13th Street (NE 13th St) are all within walking distance (under a mile).

IMPORTANT: Strictly enforced by the city. We risk losing our vacation rental license if found to not be in compliance of the following:
-Our home is nestled in a residential neighborhood. There are noise restrictions all hours of the day with quiet hours from 10 pm to 8 am.
-Guests are required to present an ID prior to receiving access codes.
-No on-street parking/ 1 car maximum
-Absolutely no so smoking inside
-No parties or gatherings that exceed the maximum occupancy

-Each guest gets a personalized lock code that expires at the time of check-out ensuring the safety of our guests and properties
-The door automatically locks behind you each time you exit so you never have to wonder if the home has been secured
-Free early check-in and late check-out (based on availability)
IMPORTANT: Guests are responsible for presenting an ID/ photo just like a hotel. There is no exception to this rule.

Really nice layout for me as a single traveller. And a fenced yard for my pup! Nice area in Poinsettia Heights for walking and running. Close to everything. Would stay again.

Great location to get out and explore all of the different towns and dining locations throughout the east side of South Florida. So much to see and do. Great for driving as well as Uber. Property was just what what we needed.

This was possibly the most fun spot I've stayed so far using Vrbo to book a place when i'm in Ft Lauderdale for work. Loved the decor and area, but there were 2 things that prevented me from booking this place again. 1. The bed wasn't very comfortable, was okay at first but forms very fast. So a great weekender bed. 2. The TVs are older and had a blue hue so it would distort the image to make everything blue. I suppose if youre on vacation and not staying for more than a few days it's an amazing pick. but for staying for a week and looking for a home away from home, might want to wait for some other upgrades.

A nice place to stay. Not perfect, but decide for yourself what’s important to you. Great: - Comfortable king-sized bed - Tom and Noelle were great hosts, very responsive and proactive. - Private - Nice atmosphere Not as good: - No comfortable seating for us. Everything was either too high (day bed couch above trundle, bar height dining chairs without backs) or too low (pillows on floor) - The AC in the bedroom was not up to the task of keeping the bedroom cold enough for me, but I do need a cold bedroom. I mentioned this to the hosts, and they sent a technician out right away, but they couldn’t find a problem. The other AC was up to the task, so we simply left the bedroom door open at night. - The listing didn’t show the entrance, but this is a guesthouse behind another house. There’s a dirt and gravel walkway from the driveway to the front of the house. This could be a problem for rolling suitcases or carrying heavy (for you) things. - Kitchen is minimally well stocked. There is a nice variety of seasonings and good counter space, and at least one of everything you need, but there weren’t many cooking utensils, and only a couple of pots which were an awkward size for some things (I think they were big). We also didn’t find pot lids (though we later realized they might have been hiding in the back corner of the cabinet). A paper towel holder would be nice; we spilled water and the only roll of paper towels got soaked on the side it was standing on. I wavered between giving this place 4 or 5 stars, because it is such a good value and the hosts really went above and beyond, but not having comfortable seating was the deciding factor for not giving it full stars.

First I want to say the communication and kind nature of the hosts Tom and Noelle was exceptional. They quickly responded to messages and even refunded me for one night stay as I had to check out early. While I feel there were good intentions as it was clear this small older guest home was remodeled and decorated the place smelled like mildew and mold. the photos looked like a more newer looking place. In person it looked like it could use some love inside an out. I have had serious health issues with mold and lyme disease and my symptoms instantly were exacerbated in this home which is why I had to check out. Unfortunately there was no HVAC and only window aircons which may of been adding to the dampness in this older home. Outdoors the fence in the back sitting area on deck was broken and fallen, and the back of home where lounging was looked very dirty with old boards. All and all it was a bad experience for me as I did not sleep much for the 2 nights I was there due to what seemed to be dampness and mold. However as soon as I was able to relocate I was given a one night refund which I am very grateful for. I was really looking forward to a relaxing stay however that did not happen. Thank you for the well intentions.

My stay at The Rum Locker was a very pleasant experience and I definitely would stay there again. It was very quiet and private and had an exotic atmosphere. Perfect for pets. The hosts were incredibly accommodating and made you feel comfortable and relaxed.
