Elegant farmhouse cottage on beautiful apple orchard

Modern farmhouse cottage set on 5 private acres including an apple orchard, 100 year old water tower, outbuildings and several majestic cypress and cedar trees. The home offers elegance and comfort rarely available on the coast. You will also find that any stay here is as much about enjoying the land as it is the house. Once an active homestead, this property is simply a delight to experience.

The recently renovated home has two similarly sized bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom, a living room and a modern kitchen/diner that opens onto the south facing patio, complete with fire pit. The bedrooms each have a queen bed, accommodating 4 guests. 1 additional guest can be accommodated on a fold away single bed, which can be set up on request in either of the bedrooms. (Please request this prior to arrival.). A spacious patio links the home to the water tower, which offers a hammock retreat space. This is the place to watch the wildlife in the morning, or enjoy the sun setting on the treetops by the fire pit in the evening.

The house has been meticulously refurbished using old growth redwood, salvaged from the home during the remodel. Featuring many modern amenities, the renovated space still honors the property's 100 year-plus homestead history.

There are 13 well established apple trees on the property, from which guests can enjoy picking their own apples during harvest season, September through November. Each season though brings its own natural joys, such as the apple blossom in March, the magnificent rhododendrons in April or the foxgloves in June.

A washer and dryer can be made available on request for longer stays.

The property sits on 5 acres; the entire property is available to guests. You'll discover many different spots on the property to enjoy, each giving a different aspect of the home and surrounding flora and fauna.

Redwood Trip

We only stayed one night, but the property was just perfect, clean, and very safe. The decor was quite nice and plenty of room in backyard for our teens to run around and burn some energy.

Peaceful & Quaint getaway

We absolutely loved staying here! The property is so Peaceful surrounded by deer in the morning & evening. Sitting out by the fire pit just soaked in the beautiful surroundings. The house is so cute! Excellent choice for two of us during our stay in the Mendocino area. Two bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, gave us our privacy and the common living area and kitchen were comfortable and functional. Lovely being on the old orchard property and having space around us - and living lawn ornaments (a family of deer!).

Great spot for a family getaway

We stayed at this charming property for our family's end-of-summer getaway before school started. This charmingly updated property was super comfortable, had a large ground for our 2 boys to run around on, and were frequently visited by families of dears each day. It's close to both Mendocino and Fort Bragg so we were able to come back for afternoon breaks between beach and hiking excursions. Great setup for any family needing to get away!

Tranquil setting

We stayed at the cottage because our son was getting married in Mendocino. The cottage had everything we needed to relax before the ceremony and to get ready the day of. We loved the beautiful outdoor space and even enjoyed the fire pit. The cottage itself was completely remodeled by the owners and is beautiful.

Fort Bragg Heaven

My wife and I were back for our second stay at this property. Serene, peaceful and quiet. Mornings in the sun watching the family of dear munch on apples. A few blocks from the ocean. The house is charming, clean and comfy. We will be back again next year!!!

Wonderful yard

The large yard with deer, rabbits, cranes and other birds was the best seller. While the older stove and oven looked classic, we would have preferred one that worked.

A great base for exploring Mendocino coast

A compact but tastefully remodelled cabin is cozy and well appointed. We enjoyed it thoroughly with the kids running circles around the tank house in the yard. A 30amp electric car charger is a bonus should you need one! We will be back. Thanks for the nice place and especially for the photo album showing your restoration work on the cabin.

Peaceful homestead retreat

We stayed just one night, but wanted to stay much longer! The home is well appointed, comfortable, and welcoming. The owners did a great job renovating the old homestead into a modern guest home while retaining the charm of the original. We loved the hammock and swing, seeing deer in the backyard, and stargazing. The property is peaceful without being isolated. We had time to visit the tide pools at the Glass Beach and have a satisfying dinner at Sea Pal's, both close by. Communication with the hosts was good. We are hoping to return!

Anniversary get-away

We enjoyed the large multi-acre property, with it’s many rustic structures and water tower. While the property had a number of apple trees, we did not consider it an apple orchard. One morning, a family of deer roamed the grounds, before disappearing into the forest. The refurbished farm house was nicely appointed. We enjoyed our breakfasts on the patio, listening to birds sing. We would definitely return.

Refuge from the storm.

We initially were unable to stay the first night due to a power outage throughout the area but were able to come the 2nd day and were extended the opportunity to stay the next night as well. Our stay has been delightful. The property is gorgeous, and the home is well stocked with everything a gourmet cook could desire. The property is close to town and it is easy to navigate to restaurants and to a Safeway store. The hosts were anxious to help us throughout our stay. This property comes with my unabashed recommendation. recommend this property

The absolute best

This is a truly special property. It was so beautifully finished that I assumed it was a second home. When I read their photo book about the process of remodeling it as a vacation rental, however, I was both impressed and inspired. This is simply a perfect property in a beautiful location. Could not have asked for more or better. My only suggestion for future visitors is to make sure you screen shot check-in directions because cell service and even data service are spotty at best in this area of the state. You don't want to arrive and be unable to get in without a quest for service.

Amazing Getaway!

A hidden gem! This place was perfect for a girls weekend! The moment we drove up we loved it. The home is so beautiful just full of charm. Absolutely beautiful and peaceful!! It rained and for us it didn’t stop us. We took advantage of the beautiful water tower and danced under it , so fun! The location is perfect because it’s between Fort Bragg and Mendocino. Feeling lucky we found this place will definitely come back again! Would have given 10 stars! Exceeded Expectations: A Perfect Blend of Modern Comfort and Cozy Charm

As they say, "the devil is in the detail." This place exceeded our expectations. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and personal touches throughout the house. We expected a remote old cabin, but instead, we found a modern cabin with all the coziness we were looking for. We love to cook, and the kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed. The water tower added a unique character to the place, and the kids loved the hammock and having picnics under the apple trees. They enjoyed morning walks around the property and playing games. It was hard to get them to leave the house to explore the town. Loved playing the piano, which made for a great late evening soundtrack.

The cottage was lovely, our stay was wonderful.

We have been frequent visitors to Mendocino/Ft. Bragg over the last 20 years. This is our first visit to this cottage and we loved staying here. The cottage was lovely. It is everything the photos show and more. The kitchen well supplied. The bed had wonderful linens and we found very comfortable. The bathrooms had great towels. The owners binder gave you great information about the cottage and also provided many recommendations if you are new to the area. The backyard I enjoyed thoroughly. It a was beautiful and peaceful respite full of apple trees. I enjoyed sitting out there reading a book and drinking a glass of wine and received an occasional visit from the deer. It was just what we needed. Communication with Jo the owner was easy. Thank you Jo for your wonderful cottage.
