A multicultural city, Sydney is filled with art, history and beauty from many different walks of life. There is something to please just about everyone - the stunning white sands and azure waters of Bondi and Palm Beach, the vibrant nightlife on Kings Cross, the riveting performances at the Sydney Opera House and the spectacularly natural beauty of Royal Botanic Gardens. Although this city is known to be kind to the budget traveller, flights to Sydney are often expensive unless you book well in advance or do not mind taking economy-class seats.
Best time to travel to Sydney
From December through to March, tourists flock to this city in order to enjoy the warmth and play in the Sydney Harbour, visit the Featherdale Wildlife Park, or view the stone carvings at the Royal National Park. Visitors also come to take part in the many celebrations that occur during these months, like the Sydney Festival, the acclaimed Tropfest short film festival, and Mardi Gras.
The price of accommodation and flights to Sydney lower from mid-April to mid-May, mid-August to September, and mid-December to mid-January. Although there are still many tourists around, visitors typically thin out during these periods, leaving plenty of room to enjoy the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, skate at the Macquarie Ice Rink, or canoe the Sydney waterways in peace.
Flights are at their cheapest from June to August. Although tourists flee the city during this period, it is still a great time to visit, as both indoor and outdoor activities are still in full swing. For instance, you can take a tour through the Powerhouse Museum, or take in a rugby league game at ANZ Stadium.
Sydney Airport and transfer information
The cheapest transport is the shuttle bus. Many hotels offer complimentary shuttles to their guests, while other shuttle services may require a small fee. Local buses and trains are also available from this airport. If you require more flexibility in your trip, you can rent a car or limousine for a higher rate.

Emirates, a class above the competition in terms of economy class comfort and service
it was great with Emirates until we changed to a Qantas on the next leg from Sydney to Auckland.
Arrived 45 mins early. Great Effort
Wasn’t happy that Expedia got our booking wrong and we had to pay for our bag at the airport when I had booked a seat n bag fare
Cabin crew needs to smile more. Some looked tired
Food not that great, but ok. Really need new foam in the seats!!!!! And a bit more room. I'm short and still pretty cramped
Food service was just OK. Compared to economy on Emirates the Qantas service was minimal. Seats were cramped once other passengers reclined.
Very enjoyable experience
Older plane with not the most comfortable seat.
Very impressed with the complete service from quantas definately use again
