One of the world’s largest indoor theme parks can be found underneath an iconic red roof on Abu Dhabi’s famous Yas Island. Ferrari World is dedicated to the much-loved car manufacturer whose brand is synonymous with speed and elegance. At this huge theme park you’ll find one of the fastest roller coasters in the world, along with a variety of other rides that will satisfy even the most daring thrill-seekers. Children can drive replica Ferrari cars through the streets of Italy. Families will enjoy exploring interactive museums and eating Italian cuisine at restaurants. The huge air-conditioned venue is a welcome respite from Abu Dhabi’s weather, which can be relentlessly hot during summer.
If you’re feeling brave then jump into the cockpit of a Formula 1 car on the Formula Rossa roller coaster. You’ll feel like a race car driver as you’re shot more than 52 metres (170 feet) into the air at up to 240 kilometres (149 miles) per hour. Competitive types will enjoy racing their friends on the Fiorana GT Challenge, which has two cars on two parallel tracks.
Learn about the history of Italy’s most prestigious motorcar brand. Head to the Cinema Maranello to watch historical footage of Ferrari cars on Formula 1 tracks around the world. Take a virtual journey through the gorgeous streetscapes of the “bel paese” (beautiful country) at the Bell’Italia exhibition.
Don’t miss the Made in Maranello virtual tour, which lets you explore the insides of a real Ferrari factory. At the Junior Grand Prix course, let the kids drive miniature Ferraris. Finish the day with a slice of pizza or bowl of pasta from one of the amusement park’s Italian-themed restaurants.
Ferrari World is located on Yas Island, not far from central Abu Dhabi. Buses regularly depart from the city centre. The journey takes about 30 minutes by car from the city centre and valet parking is available for a fee.
