Nestled on Banks Peninsula, this charming harbour town invites visitors to tee off at Akaroa Golf Club or explore the historic Duvauchelle Showgrounds. Spend your days watching boats come and go at Akaroa Wharf or take a short drive to Le Bons Bay Beach for spectacular coastal views.
La Rochelle was excellent value for money. The room we were in was tidy and clean, and had a basic kitchenette. It was an easy walk to restaurants and shops. I definitely recommend staying here.

Loved the room we had which had great views over the water. Room was cosy and clean. Great to have the pub next door for meals. Would definitely stay here again.

The property is so well done with all the facilities you can think of crammed into a well designed silo space. Loved all the little industrial touches like light switches, kitchen drawers, taps etc. The sky light is great, could see a few stars when the clouds cleared with lights off. Try with the lights on too for a good view of the bed:)

The rooms were spotless and the view from the veranda room was excellent. The location was also excellent as it was close to the beach and a number of restaurants in Sumner. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful.

Great hotel - seemed a little far out of town when we arrived (in the dark) but the next morning daylight revealed that we were only 2 block from the Cardboard Cathedral, and easy walking distance to the main city centre. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. Staff were wonderful and extremely helpful in giving us maps pointing out restaurants. Room was lovely, with the added surprise of having a washing machine and dryer - perfect for me as my luggage had got very wet in flight and I...

We stayed at Governors Bay so that we could be close to Christchurch, but not "in" Christchurch. Views from the hotel of the harbour were beautiful, Room was nice. Very quiet, minimal traffic. Would stay again, but next time we will choose a balcony room. Also, all rooms share toilet and shower Facilities

This is a very central motel. We ended up with an upgrade because of a problem with the plumbing.
The room is serviced everyday, the lady that came everyday was very helpful and efficient. It had a whole kitchen to use with everything you need to make a meal.
There are some things that need some maintenance.
It is a small space between the sink, toilet and bathtub. The toilet roll holder is in an awkward place.
The shower pressure was amazing. Fabulous using the heat pump on the cold...

Great overnight stay again though the heatpump was noisy and struggled with the winter temperatures. A blind over the kitchen window would be a great addition. Great location to experience the New Brighton Pier & hot pools

Friendly welcome even though we arrived late; about 7pm. Room was tidy, warm and full kitchen facilities were perfect. Close to New World to buy groceries for our 3 nights. Cleaners were lovely as well.
As they are pet friendly, i will be bringing my dog next time.
