Bed was rather uncomfortable and although we requested for a baby cot, was agreed upon prior and confirmed even at check in, there was done upon check in at about 9pm. We had to wait for a service staff to bring it up much later and she didn't know how to set it up as it was her first time. This was through no fault of hers as housekeeping was supposed to do it. In the end, the cot was also unstable at the sides. Kudos for trying, though! Check in and check out processes were prompt and timely, and you could get free parking on the street (till 8am the next day), just fyi

Got upgraded to premium room. Swift check in, clean room, sheet, comfortable bed, great shower, clean bathroom. Staff great, good menu option for breakfast and dinner. Centralised location. Swift check out. Greatly recommend it.

Although we got a free upgrade to a 2 room suite unit, it is on the 5th floor that requires us to carry our luggage upand down from the elevator that ends at the 4th floor. Also ther us an ongoing construction bearby that causes the room to shake a little while there is piling going on

The receptionist's attitude at the hotel was so bad that it made me feel uncomfortable. The next morning, the construction nearby started and it was noisy as well as shock the whole building. Otherwise bed was comfortable and everything was clean.

Accomidations were clean and adequate. I was not prepared to pay for parking at $15 US$ per night. When I booked it said parking was available. True. My mistake not looking for "free". Be prepared for the extra charge.

Nice and clean for an old hotel. $15 for a night to park is a bit steep after paying for the room. Close to the hospital kids though it was great watching the helicopter land on top of the hospital. Close to train station is a bonus.

Excellent location, well presented, good staff, great facilities. Only drawbacks were the noise (pile driving at 07:30 literally vibrating the bed), poor parking ($15 a day to park in a small car park, where non - hotel users use for shopping, etc).

Hotel was easy to get to and had parking. This cost an additional $15 a night. Room was tired looking and smelt smokey. Bathroom had a grim looking shower curtain and very old low shower head coming out of the wall too low. Expensive for what you got!

Great facilities. Easy and convenient to Octagon and surrounding area. The bathroom sensor light was annoying in the middle of the night as it illuminated the whole area waking others.

A very good hotel with very friendly staff. At the moment there is a big building site opposite the hotel. Especially that beep, beep when the maschines are in reverse is annoying.

Awesome location and lovely hotel only thing was there was alot of outside noise. Got woken up twice due to sirens in the middle of the night. So would recommend bringing earplugs if you are a light sleeper.

The room was entirely misrepresented, tired, dingy and stunk. Be careful if you think you're getting a new tidy room. Upon mentioning this to staff they, attempted to help but had rooms reserved for the 'needs of other guests'. I also paid the extra $15 for parking, unfortunately ther was no space. The final straw was when I said I would not be staying with them again, the check in attendant said, 'that's fine'. I wasn't being rude or loud and feel that it's entirely unacceptable behaviour from a hotel that's charging $225 a night in Dunedin. There a plenty of other options and I ended up cancelling my booking and having a nice evening at Scenic. Their staff were great and they upgraded my booking.

Hi John, Our our bookings system, you never stayed with us. We've refunded you accordingly for all the charges including the car parking. As mentioned on the day, we were fully booked and couldn't move your rooms. The picture issue with the room type is a third party issue on Wotif which we've contacted Expedia to sort out. Our team has tried to compensate with breakfast & drinks,however you declined. On the day we couldn't move your room. Rooms were not reserved for "guests in need". Guests have booked the superior room types in advance and we cannot move or change their reservation. We're grateful for this as our management team has taken action with Wotif to ensure that this does not happen. The room was very hot and muggy. There was not ac just a fan in the room. We tried to open the windows but then the outside noise from the street and neighbors were very loud all night. We heard doors slamming shut and the elevator go up and down. It was hard to stay asleep all night.

I found the $15 parking fee slightly opportunistic considering it would be the only real option for people with a car. The fair thing to do would be to incorporate it into the cost of the room so people could make an informed choice. My husband hated the bed, it sunk in the middle and he didn’t get any sleep especially since earth works started at 7:40 in the morning and the whole room shook at 30 second intervals from that time. We won’t be back.

I've stayed in this hotel a lot of times, this is the worst stay I've ever had, hence gave Victoria Hotel Dunedin this review for 3 reasons: 1. Arrived almost midnight due to delayed flight, reception did one of the access card correctly. Had my daughter drop by because it's her graduation the next day. She's asking help to fix her dress. The receptionist was so suspicious that they would be sleeping over (don't know how that's going to work), and even rang the room phone after 5 mins! 2. We paid for hotel parking, and one night we came to the hotel around 10pm, and the paid parking area was full. We were asked to just park in front of the reception. Seems that they're not counting who's paid for the parking or just assumed everyone paid for the parking. 3. I've already paid when checking in, but upon checking out, the receptionist that day requested for additional payment. Luckily I've got an email trail of the final amount, I actually paid $60 more than what I should.
