The Down Inn

"The hotel is out in country, but is a busy place at times and plenty of car parking. The hotel looks fine from the outside, but a bit tired looking inside. My room was so spacious. It was like a suite. Again, a bit dated, but very clean and tidy. Tea/coffee facilities and TV worked well. Shower had plenty of hot water and some lovely toiletries were supplied. The view from the room over the expanse of flat roofing was a bit scruffy with some long neglected plant pots and other detritus. Breakfast was a delight. The first day I had the full English, but it was huge and piping hot. The next day I had Eggs Benedict. Bacon or salmon??? The lovely staff member said have one of each. They were delicious. Cereals, juice, fruit, etc if you want them. I think the hotel is really good value and I would definitely return if back in the area."

"Brilliant group of properties in a lovely setting. Really interesting history. Fantastic main room - great for celebrations/gatherings. Well stocked and easily accommodated our group of 19 adults and 1 dog. We had lovely weather but would have been very useful if the weather was poor. Very friendly and welcoming hosts. Would thoroughly recommend for a large gathering of family and friends."

Beautiful pub 2 minute walk away which served absolutely delicious food, had a real fire and heated pods in the garden for comfort. "Had a lovely weeks stay at Clover Cottage. Very quiet and restful. It had everything you could need including a hot tub which was lovely after a days sightseeing. The big comfy bed was also a bonus. We found Jo, the owner, to be very helpful with her knowledge of the local area. All in all a wonderful break away and would have no hesitation in recommending Clover Cottage."

"What a wonderful place to stay. So much history everywhere you turn within the barn it really is beautiful. Everything you could possibly need was provided, lovely furniture, a decent TV and the kitchen was so well fitted out. We had a lovely welcome pack of local milk and biscuits, some treats for our dog and even a lovely soft dog bed was provided. Although the barn into the local town where all amenities were catered for. Lots of walks around the area and just so peaceful in the barn. We were a mixed party, three generations, and everyone managed to navigate the barn with ease. We had a lovely relaxing stay and would definitely recommend to anyone."
