"My wife and I recently spent three nights at Quinta da Marka and we were honestly very sad when it came time to leave. It truly felt like a home away from home, and it was as if we were saying goodbye to family. Angela, the estate manager, and her staff are incredibly accommodating and will make sure all of your needs are met while staying at the Quinta. She arranged pick ups, drop offs - oftentimes conducting the pickups herself - and even cooked our delicious, four-course, traditional Portuguese meals each evening. Breakfasts are lovely and always served fresh with a smile. Quinta da Marka is a working winery, which to our delight has the best rose wine we had ever tasted. Angela presented us with a welcoming glass when we first arrived, but then always ensured there were chilled bottles for our enjoyment beside the pool whenever we returned to the hotel after daytime excursions. The grounds are absolutely stunning, with full panoramic views of the Douro River which are beyond breathtaking. Almond, olive and lemon trees are plentiful in addition to the vineyards. The interiors are well-appointed with a blend of traditional Portuguese and British design sensibilities. Very comfortable and elegant in its simplicity. Quinta da Marka has truly cultivated a personable environment for their guests, where everything is incredibly relaxed, welcoming and inviting whenever you step through the doors. We look forward to our next stay there with our new friends! Thanks!"

"The property is stunning!!! The views are indescribable - you have to see for yourself to really experience. Traveled with group of 6 - late 50s, early 60s (good physical shape overall)....I will say that there are TONS of steps to get anywhere and if you are unable to do a lot of steps (I mean TONS) - this is not the property for you. If you are able to do steps you have to see this place! One thing that I'll remember is Eduardo helping us check in saying "this is your home for your stay.....treat it as such and enjoy all that the property offers"......The snack bar is meh. The breakfast buffet more than satisfying...."
