This was a wonderful place to stay. The room was beautiful, the view was gorgeous, the people were so friendly, and the food was some of the best I’ve ever had. I highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing countryside getaway!
Always had a soft spot for the Quarryman’s but never stayed there service and staff were fantastic full English for breakfast amazing cute quaint room and the best pub garden there is to watch a sunset recommend to all
Fabulous location overlooking the valley. Staff food and rooms are all great.
A minor downside is lighting over the handbag in the bathroom where good light is needed for contact lens wearers; however this is common to almost all hotels nowadays
Amazing countryside location with million dollar view. The bed was huge and comfy, the room was well decorated and very nice. Food in the restaurant was fantastic. We also hiked some trails from here and then sat for hours on the patio just enjoying the view. Awesome spot for a few hours or many days!
We loved this property because it was a really old country pub that had been beautifully maintained. Our room was huge with loads of quality character. It was so nice to just walk into the pub for dinner and breakfast. It's a little off the beaten path, about 20 minutes drive from Bath but really worth it. We highly recommend it.
Nice and clean as described! The room was well equipped with free water/milk, and we loved the little fan in the room. The breakfast was terrific and delicious, and the staffs were nice and helpful. The location was convenient that’s only about 20 mins drive from Bath, and the view was nice.

Liked: Staff & service
Lovely stay for business and pleasure
Staff are super friendly, it was like staying at my local, despite this being my 1st visit. The views are amazing and bar drinks and food very reasonable. Car park is easily accessible. Room could do with a refresh, paint a bit flaky in places and dust (heavy in wardrobe near safe) where you don’t see unless you look……but in the main, clean 👍 Bed was a bit hard for me. Breakfast though was the best I’ve had. Great produce, so tasty and cooked fresh. I’d stay again, even if only to spend time in a great bar, with amazing views and the most welcoming staff.
Super beautiful location with really great food! And great people.
Rooms are decently clean. Hallways not so much, mostly the carpet. But maybe that’s part of the charm. Would stay here again.

Not ideal for light sleepers!
An average room (incorrect luxurious room photo on the booking email is NOT the room we actually booked). Comfy bed. Shower trap absolutely stank so we poured hot water and half a bottle of shower gel down it. We asked for a quiet room, but the standard double room we were in is next to the kitchen, and we could here extraction fans until midnight, then the rattle of fridges through the wall all night long. Not ideal! We did mention this to the landlord and he was going to look into this.
The view from our room was a beautiful pastoral picture of the Codswolds District. The pub service & quality was excellent. The staff was professional & food tasty. We were there when the September temperature was extremely warm which made the room HOT. Hotels.com said there was air conditioning but Quarrymans Arms never had AC. We were so miserable we had to leave. Quarrymans Arms did refund our prepayment of the second night. We were disappointed we had to leave. If there would have been air conditioning or the temps cooler, our visit would have been perfect.
We had a good stay at the Quarrymans Arms and would absolutely go there again for drinks and food. The food was overall very good at both dinner and breakfast with a good selection of well made cocktails. The room was a nice size and in good condition but there were 2 things that could really be improved: 1) we were woken up in the morning by the noise of doors shutting very loudly - possibly some soft close mechanisms to reduce the noise? 2) the bed was not a true super king but 2 single beds that weren't secured together and so gradually moved apart which didn't lead to a hugely comfortable sleep. Overall good but the sleep quality between those 2 issues was such that I probably wouldn't book to sleep again.
The Quarryman Arms is a wonderful experience. A beautiful Pub is on the main floor with rooms on various levels within the building. We stayed in a room in the basement that had so much charm. Little touches were appreciated, like two bottles in the honor bar that had tags saying, "This one's on us". The staff were great. Checking in was as easy as walking into the pub and letting the bartender know we were there to check in. After being walked to our room we had a wonderful meal in the pub.
The pub was quiet but busy. Lots of locals coming in for a pint and to socialize. The ambiance was warm with lots of interesting pictures from the area. In the morning we ate breakfast at a table with an amazing view of the valley below.
The only constructive feedback that I have is that there was some peeling paint over the bathroom sink and the shower drained slowly and needs a drain snake.
From the charming room to the pub atmosphere to the staff and the view, the Quarryman Arms is one of the places that I would love to come back to and spend more time. I highly recommend them!
The area around Box Hill is beautiful. Some nice little nature areas within strolling distance. Good star-gazing. Staff at the pub were great, as were the locals. Excellent local ciders and ales. Food was great too, great ploughman's lunch. Amazing place to watch the sunset and see the lights of Bath in the distance.
