COVID-19 has ushered in substantial changes to the way we travel. If you're planning a trip to Central Nevada, these tips will help you navigate the "new normal:"

• Before you lock in a flight, see if any travel restrictions or bans apply — in both your origin and destination. Get the latest updates by checking government and airport websites.
• Wear a face mask during airport screening. A TSA employee will require you to lower your mask temporarily for identification purposes.
• Instead of handing a TSA officer your boarding pass, position it directly on the reader yourself. Then, hold it up for inspection.
• One liquid hand sanitizer container is now allowed in your carry-on bag. It must not be larger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you'll need to remove it from your bag at the X-ray machine for screening.
• Empty your personal items from your pockets, like your wallet, phone and small change, and put them in your carry-on rather than into bins. This will reduce handling during the screening process.
• Separate any food you're carrying for screening. Food items often trigger the alarm. Putting them in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA employee to touch and inspect your belongings.
