"Beautiful rural setting, new owners and the bar and dining rooms fully renovated in the last few months. Bedroom was a good size and the bed very comfortable. Staff were very helpful and pleasant and the food we had (dinner and breakfast) were excellent."

"What a terrific spot! The bar was comfy, and cosy; the room clean, and tastefully decorated with a comfy bed, and wonderful view of the viaduct and Whernside. And, the fish & chips - exceptional! For us, the staff made our stay, Will, Courtney, Angela, & Val, couldn't do enough for us, despite a very busy bank holiday weekend. Thank you, we had a great evening and a cracking breakfast to boot."

"Very helpful and friendly staff. Nice room with ensuite. Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits available. Great choice at breakfast, including those, like me, who only want a continental breakfast. We dined in the attached restaurant both nights and the food, and service, was very good. We arrived by bicycle and safe storage was provided. All in all great value for money and highly recommended."

"We have stayed here a few times in the past but not for about three years now. Sadly, we were very disappointed . The service used to be exceptional. I asked for a quiet room as we are very light sleepers - we were kept aware by the kitchen fan at the back of our room and the noise from the reception desk. We had lunch there and the prawn skewers were bland and tasteless. The breakfast buffet selection was poor, however the hot meals were very good. The service was dire, staff were stood around chatting and we had to go and ask for our order to be taken. We were not asked if we would like toast and again had to ask for it. When the waitress brought some she did not think to take our dirty plates away. Also, I notified the manager on arrival that the hand cream in the ladies toilet had run out and it was still empty on departure. Unsure if we would return and we have spent many happy breaks there in the past."
