Hard to write a fair review. The facilities are nice, and staff friendly. The central and convenient location is also a little dodgy-feeling, especially at night. I feel like I got one of the less desirable rooms in the category I booked (which seems to happen with Expedia bookings more than I’d like)—room 232, just below a wood-floored event space on the third floor called “The Telegraph Room.” On my second night that space hosted what the front desk told me was a “silent disco” event. That’s as bad as it sounds….hours of loud stomping and banging just above me. No way should my bedroom, marketed as premium, have been let out that night…at least not without full disclosure. The front desk was courteous when I twice raised the noise problem, but not in a position to resolve the issue. I love hotels in heritage buildings, and rarely gripe in a review. But I feel management slipped up here.

The hotel was excellent. Very clean and service was to a very high level. I would stay there again. The area around the property is less inviting but once in the hotel it didnt matter and was not as untypical for Cardiff.

The receptionist was extremely helpful on arrival . He provided a map , sight seeing ideas and navigation hints . The room was colossal and clean . I would have liked to be able to open a window but the air con worked well . My only complaint really is I do prefer freshly made tea and coffee at breakfast rather than machine. I stayed during the week . I wonder if it would be noisier at weekends but it is a capital city !
