The property is about 20 mins from CPT. It's downtown so it's walkable although not recommended for women to walk alone at night. It was about 10 minutes from Waterfront. The hotel is excellent 5 stars. The free breakfast is very hearty -- hard to believe it's free! The staff was wonderful and I loved the ambiance!

We enjoyed our one-week stay at the hotel. The staff was amazing! A key misgiving was lack of a positive response when we requested for shuttle service to pick us up on arrival from the airport.

Good accommodation option, few areas to improve
Conveniently located at walking distance to the convention center, great view of the Table Mountain from my room (high floor). 6 lifts never let you wait more than a minute or so. There are areas that my experience could have been better, such as a faster check-in (took a while), fixing my air conditioner (not cooling properly), an office chair (the wooden chair was loosen and very non-ergometric, uncomfortable), more toiletry amenities (shaving kit, toothbrush, etc). The check-out gentlemen wasn't on a great customer-service mood.

Pleasant, but a bit outdated
Great location, I had everything that I needed. The staff were friendly and helpful. It would be better if the Southern Sun did a major re-vamp to the rooms as the fittings are a bit outdated. But overall, a pleasant stay was had.

The state of the hotel
This was our second stay in 10 years. The stay was very dissappinting, I had to park my car outside the hotel risking being mugged by thugs who roamed around. The hotels rooms had water leaks in the bathroom and some doors difficult to open. Please separate shower from bathtub. The name was rude and wanted to close whilst patrons we're having drinks. I had to call the supervisor.

It is sometimes the little things that can make a
Chose to stay at the Hotel mainly because of its proximity to the ICC where I was attending a Conference.The website showed it was very close and within walking distance. I must respectfully disagree and suggest all distances to other venues be reviewed. For me coffee in the room is most important. No milk was provided and all when it was it was far too little. All attempts to rectify this through the staff were unsuccessful. Unable to sign extras to the room unless one has a "credit" ? Not advised of this when I checked in. In fact it was confirmed that I could sign drinks etc to the room and settle bill when I left. But overall an enjoyable and comfortable stay with friendly staff.

Nice Hotel, but poorly run, terrible service, 25 minutes for a cup of coffee, 50 minutes for a starter. Went to pay waited five minutes for cashier to find change. Room was not clean bathroom filthy.

The elevators were nice for the view. The staff was generally pleasant, a few a little pushy in hinting for tips. The free wifi is not so free after you use up the small amount they provide. It makes me think of bait and switch.

Old and dusty furniture. Took 2 days to have a third towel as we were three in the family room....Asked the staff at reception everyday but no towels arrived!!! Bath leaking after showering so water all over the place. No water to drink everyday in the room, had to ask and after the second day they placed 1 bottle of water for 3 of us!!! The windows opened completely on the 26th floor without any security, I found that quite dangerous.... The staff were very kind. i will not stay in this Hotel again when back in Cape Town. Not worth it.

Absolutely in the middle of downtown, with easy, complimentary shuttle access to the waterfront shopping and major events! Staff was friendly and helpful, and very punctual when we requested things like an ironing board and room service! Hotel itself was beautiful with a clear view of Table Mountain on the one side. It was unfortunate that there was so much wind when we stayed, as the howling was loud through the window/walls. Ear plugs were needed.

This hotel was centrally located. The staff are friendly and professional from reception to the porter and the shuttle driver. What a comfortable, welcoming staff. I also felt very safe in this part of town.

Terrible service and average food
The food is below average. The hotel is very old and it shows when trying to run a shower and get the temperature right. Housekeeping was terrible. My room was not serviced until 5pm so I came back from a long day at work to find my room unmade with nowhere to relax. The staff have a very relaxed attitude towards guests. This hotel needs a complete makeover from decor to all staff. Terrible time spent here

Do not trust the concierges, a few times they tried to sell my activities/rides at a higher price, probabily they get a cut from them. You are better off if you book your activitties on line. Including taxy, they always call their friends who charge more money than a regular city taxy. And no manager on duty to watch it.

Staff very pleasant & welcoming, if not always so efficient ! Beautiful comfortable bed. Showers leave a lot to be desired..how much water gets wasted because we cannot regulate temperature ?That's apart from the useless shower curtains! Great breakfast buffet. Very helpful concierge

Staff were excellent and the facilities were clean. Breakfast is way up there, excellent. Keep it up. The bathroom was showing a bit of wear and rare and should be maintained. Apart from that it was in an excellent location and the free bus service was very useful.
