California - Pezou Hotels, Cannes

"The Golden Tulip, Cannes was a very nice property - no frills, but lovely and helpful staff, clean room and shared spaces, and very convenient for work-related events near the Palais. The property is super quiet and very comfortable overall. The breakfast buffet is very minimal, but sufficient, with a reliable coffee/espresso machine. There is also no gym on the property, which I didn't love, but wouldn't have had a lot of time for anyway. The staff were very kind, helpful, and responsive. I had some issues with the heat/air, where it was hard to get the room to cool down, but maybe it was user error? Idk, but it was December and the windows opened to let in fresh, cool air, so it wasn't a major issue. Would definitely return!"

"Hi. I enjoyed my stay at the hotel Verlaine. The hotel is is the residential area a short walk to a public beach and a shop behind it which was great. 15 min walk from the train station. Staff were very friendly and helpful. You can hear some road noise but you are in the city. I really liked the lobby, my room and balcony. The hotel looked after my cases on my last day until my flight home. Fridge in room, cold water dispenser downstairs. A great hotel. Thank you. "

"The property is clean and nicely decorated. Bathroom is renovated, and the kitchen well supplied. The balcony is a nice plus — does not get the sun but if you are comfortable in the shade it’s very pleasant. Location is a 10-min walk to the mid-Croisette area, and close to groceries, massage, hairdresser etc. It’s a longer walk to the Palais — 25 mins to walk and get inside to my event. Communication was good — check in was easy and they were very responsive when I had an issue with the electricity. It went out for a few hours during my stay and took a while to fix since the super was on a lunch break, but it did get fixed and was not an issue thereafter.Only one negative. About a week after I left I received photos from the management company accusing me of damage to the wall/stair area. They asked me to settle amicably, which I was of course willing to do, but I noted that I had no idea how it had happened — I didn’t carry anything up or down stairs to the sleeping mezzanine except myself, a book, and a glass of water. They got quite accusatory at that point which was very distressing — I’ve rented lots of properties over the years and always leave things clean and tidy. If anything has been damaged — a glass broken for example — I’ve always reported it and covered any cost. So to be accused of lying and not being willing to pay was just awful. I replied saying of course I was willing to settle to mutual satisfaction but heard nothing back. An upsetting end I’m afraid."
