Located on the southwestern coast of Ibiza, Cala d’Hort is a secluded cove surrounded by towering cliffs. The only way to access the beach is by taking a scenic drive along a steep, narrow road. Arrive at astounding views of the sparkling blue Mediterranean Ocean and the small island of Es Vedra. The rocky slopes of Serra de Ses Roques Altes enclose the beach.
Sink your feet into the soft sand at one end of the beach or explore the rockier terrain at the other end in between the beach resembles a large golden arc. Cool off with a swim or a snorkel. On particularly windy days, the waves become perfect for body surfing. Escape the hot sun and find some shade under a rented lounge chair and parasol. There are also many restaurants close by to enjoy a meal.
Cala d’Hort is one of 15 Blue Flag beaches on Ibiza. This means that the beach meets strict criteria regarding safety, water quality, environmental regulation, information and education. It is an ideal destination for all travellers, however it is especially great for families due to its sheltered waters and the safety requirements it meets.
Established as national park in 2002, Cala d’Hort is now protected from future building development. Enjoy the natural breathtaking views and watch the sunset over Es Vedra, a small island just off the coast. This small island is rumoured to be one of the most magnetic points in the world and whether this is true or not, it is definitely beautiful to behold.
San Jose is a nearby village where accommodation and other facilities may be found. In the low season Cala d’Hort is about a 10-minute drive away. The peak season tends to get very busy and the road to is reduced to a single lane to make space for parked vehicles.
