"The staircases at the south end of the property near the office & breakfast room are in bad shape. They need replacing or at least sand blasting, repair & paint. I’m older and need to use the railing and didn’t like the stickyness of them on both staircases especially going in for breakfast.
The room was very clean and attended to daily.
Breakfast area was ok. Needed some hot food, eggs & bacon or sausage.
Staff was very helpful."
Historical Cabin in Good Hart on M119 Tunnel of Trees Lake Michigan Beach Access
10/10 Excellent
"Wonderful place to relax and as described. Loved exploring all of the cabin books and cooking outside over the fire and the provided grill. General Store is very close and has great doughnuts in the morning and the pot pies were delicious as well. Would recommend and will be back."
"We stated 1 night at the Earl and it was great! This was our favorite hotel of our week long trip.
I'll mention the only 2 downsides up front: 1. There is only 1 elevator and it's at the very front of the building by check in so if your room is on the other side of the building (it's shaped like a square missing 1 side) then you may have some walking to do BUT this was fine for us and we used the circular staircases when leaving instead. 2. Parking is limited inside their parking lot, however you can park on the main road right next to the building usually and that worked out fine for us as well.
The upsides:
The location is wonderful and right by downtown and the drawbridge that opens every half hour. Super cool to see the big boats come through. You can also walk to the beach area and up to the mushroom houses if you are good with hills and we enjoyed this walk!
The room was MASSIVE - truly twice the size of any other rooms we stayed in at other hotels. The bathroom was also quite large and stocked with Beekman products which was a very nice touch.
The staff were top notch! We had no issues with check in or check out. They were able to provide great dining recommendations as well!"
