"Great place to stay and only 15 minutes to Lassen Volcanic National Park. On site restaurant and bistro that both served great food. Would definitely stay here again."

"Lovely spot to enjoy home comforts while accessing the southwest entrance to Lassen Volcanic National Park. Nine miles to the entrance! Pay attention to your gas gauge! Top it off if you are coming in through Chester. Well stocked kitchen and bathroom items. Enjoyed both the front porch and the rear deck. Enjoyed the little community with evening walks."

The Black Forest Lodge

10/10 Excellent
"Don't judge by the exterior. Room was excellent. I think we had a handicapped accessible room but it was very roomy with king bed. Huge shower with instant hot water and great water pressure. TV, good a/c, Keurig coffee maker, small refrigerator with little freezer. Shampoo, conditioner etc. Comfortable bed. Close to Lassen Volcanic National Park. The only downside: we were in room 1 by the highway. Need better blackout curtains. Some road noise, but not terrible."

Beautiful 3bedroom house in Mineral/Pet and family Friendly/Lassen National Park

Beautiful 3bedroom house in Mineral/Pet and family Friendly/Lassen National Park

10/10 Excellent
"Our stay was just what we hoped - perfect in every way! Leslieann is an exceptional host and gave us helpful tips and showed us parts of what makes Mineral so special! We were a party of 9 (5 adults, 4 kids) and everything was comfortable. The towel supply was much appreciated. The house is as described, kitchen well equipped for everyday cooking and I must comment that the pull-out sleeper sofa is the most comfortable I have ever slept on!"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Butte Meadows?
The best area to stay in Butte Meadows is the central village area itself, particularly for convenient access to local amenities and the surrounding natural beauty. This area is the heart of Butte Meadows, offering a cluster of essential services and access to outdoor activities. It's centred around the Butte Meadows General Store and the local lodge, providing a focal point for visitors. The streets here are mostly unpaved, giving it a rustic, rural feel, and it serves as a gateway to the Lassen National Forest. For families, staying in the village area is ideal. Many holiday rentals here offer more space and direct access to open areas for children to play. Proximity to the general store is a practical advantage for stocking up on supplies, and the nearby hiking trails are suitable for family outings.Couples looking for a peaceful retreat will also find the central village appealing. The quiet surroundings and easy access to nature walks, such as the trails leading to Butte Creek, provide a relaxing escape.
When is the best time to go to Butte Meadows?

The higher elevation means it's often a bit cooler than the valley below, offering a comfortable escape from the heat. All roads and trails are usually clear of snow, ensuring easy access to attractions like the Butte Meadows-Jonesville Community Hall and the numerous trailheads for the Lassen National Forest.Families will find summer particularly appealing due to the abundance of outdoor adventures suitable for all ages. There are opportunities for picnicking by creeks, nature walks, and stargazing in the clear mountain air. The local general store is fully operational, and community events, though infrequent, are more likely to occur during these months.Couples seeking a peaceful retreat will also appreciate the summer for its opportunities for scenic drives, quiet walks through the pine forests, and evenings spent enjoying the cool mountain air. The lack of crowds compared to more well-known destinations allows for a truly relaxing and intimate experience. While autumn can offer beautiful foliage, cooler temperatures mean some facilities might have reduced hours, and there's a higher chance of early snow in late October.
