Lundur is a perfect base for your Icelandic holiday. Have a memorable day at Snæfellsjökull National Park, visit a natural hot spring like Deildartunguhver, or amazing waterfall like Hraunfossar. Other interesting places to visit are, the active volcano Grábrók, the crater Eldborg, historical viking landmark Reykholt, and taking a walk into the glacier Langjökull. You can stroll through the nearby cozy town of Borgarnes and drop by the cafe’s, museums, shops and restaurants. Take a drive to the capital Reykjavík with all its glory, nightlife and culture. Make a day trip on the Golden Circle and see the exploding Geysir with all its natural power, and drop by the historic Thingvellir National Park, and view close up the beautiful Gullfoss waterfall. In the evenings you will always come back home to this cozy cottage in Brókarstígur and the first thing you might do is, relax in the hot tub with a glass of red wine and enjoy the Northern Lights in the peace and quietness after a memorable day.

The cabin was built in a traditional, Icelandic summerhouse way. It´s well constructed and insulated. It's warm and cozy all year-round with all necessities and comfort. The house has an open kitchen-living room area. In the kitchen is all tableware and equipment you need for cooking and baking and serving a lovely meal. The living room has a great corner sofa and a large flat screen TV and films to watch. The bedrooms are cozy and comfortable with great quality beds. Free WIFI.

A private guest house is right next to the main house, it has a private entrance, a large bedroom, TV, and a full bathroom with a shower. The guest house sleeps four people and has free WIFI.

On the large terrace is a nice hot tub that fits up to 6 people, barbecue grill and comfortable outdoor seating. The terrace is perfect for making a good meal and relaxing in the peaceful environment. Beside the house is a grass lawn which is surrounded by nature, ideal for kids to play.

We have been connected to Borgarfjörður since childhood and would like to share good advice and information about the house or the area so don´t hesitate to send us an email request about anything you would like to know and we will do our best to help you.

Peaceful stay

Comfortable and convenient to Borgones and the peninsula (I won’t butcher the name). Enjoyed the hot tub and the kitchen had everything we needed.

Beautiful house! Clean and had everything we needed. Hosts were so nice with great communication…helped a lost cat that showed up find its owner…we LOVE cats..so this was so nice that they also love cats and helped reunite the lost cat with its family. Saw the northern lights all four nights. Great location…would definitely stay again!!

Great retreat in Iceland

Beautiful House and Excellent Hosts

We had a wonderful wintery stay. The home is very clean, with plenty of indoor and outdoor space, offering a tranquil retreat still only a hour from Reykjavík. Robert and Heidrun were fantastic hosts, even facilitating some snow activities for our two children.

Beautiful home—majestic views

Lovely Home

This home was a perfect, cozy spot for our family (6 adults, 4 children) to relax after adventurous days exploring west Iceland! The location was quiet and private while also being a short drive to grocery stores, gas, and restaurants. The home was well stocked with essentials including plenty of towels for both shower and hot tub use. The owners provided detailed check-in instructions and responded to communications in a timely manner. We highly recommend this lovely home!

Everything we hoped it to be

The house delivered everything we hoped it would for our family trip incl. Kids and 80years old seniors. Convenience to store while being far enogh away from others allowed us to observe an unforgettable show of the aurora. Proximity to silver loop attractions and peninsula of snaefellsness was perfect for our day trips wothout having to spend toouch time in the car.

Charming home for two families

This little cottage is perfect for exploring during the day and having a place to sleep at night. The unit had kids toys which our 2.5,3&4 year old loved. We had two families so one set of adults had to stay in the attached building. The area is charming and quiet. We loved the stay. The check-in process through the gate wasn’t working with our USA phones, but a kind couple behind us got us in. Not sure what the problem was. Highly recommend for two small families or one large family!

Borganes Beauty!

When we travel, my wife and I love to find places off the beaten path to be able to relax, unwind, amd have privacy after a long day of hiking and sightseeing. This cottage is out of town and definitely off the beaten path, but just off the road to explore the west side of Iceland! We traveled with friends and this cottage was perfect! The guest house provided privacy and a beautiful view for our friends. The main house provided plenty of space for gathering, preparing food and eating with a beautiful view! The hot tub was an added bonus to soak aching muscles after a day of hiking! If you are traveling with kids, they would love this cottage! A cool separate space to call their own and even a lawn space to play! Owners were very responsive when we had questions and provided excellent information. If you don't need space for a larger group, check out the other listings that Robert and Heidrun have listed. If this cottage is any indication of quality, you won't be disappointed!

3 night stay in March

This was a great place for my wife, our 2 kids and a friend who was traveling with us. The studio (extra house) is great for that reason. The Hot tub was a nice addition to enjoy in the evenings and mornings.

REMOTE BEAUTY

This was our first international travel with VRBO and it was a dream. We brought our 2 adult kiddos to Iceland for a family trip and between the main house and the guest house, we each had our own space. The kids (both in the mid 20's) had the main house and we had the guest house. The communication with Heidrun was easy and she was very responsive to our questions. All the beds were super comfortable, and the house was very well stocked. The house is away from the town but there is a Bonus supermarket, great cafe right next to the store and a restaurant (Grillhaus) very close by (went there twice). Great instructions on the various appliances in the home were provided from the owners. Easy drive to the Golden Circle, and the other major sites around. Would recommend this house to anyone.

Perfect Location to see the West

We had a wonderful stay here. There were 4 adults. When we booked we thought the house was probably more than we needed but we wanted 2 bathrooms. But upon arrival we were glad to have the extra room so we could put out our suitcases on the unused beds. The hot tub was nice at the end of the day. We cooked a few meals and just used the instruction book to use the cook top, oven and microwave, the instructions were clear. Beds were comfy. Having washer and dryer was nice as this was after being in Iceland for 5 days. There are no curtians in the main living room so you have to shut the bedroom doors if you need it dark so a fan would be necessary in the summer and they did not have one so I would bring a travel fan if you are staying in the summer. It was close to Borgarnes and we got groceries there easily. We would book this house again but feel 4 adults maybe 6 would be the max due to no place to put all your clothes.

Lovely house in a rural quiet location and is ideal to drive to many visit attractions. Has all the comforts you need, lovely and warm. Hot tub was fabulous. The host very attentive and quick to answer any questions. Nearest town borgarnes well equipped with shops, restaurants etc. Would highly recommend it made our holiday perfect.
