Beautiful and Cozy Cottage with Hot Tub close to Snæfellsnes National Park

Holt is a perfect base for your Icelandic holiday. Have a memorable day at Snæfellsjökull National Park, visit a natural hot spring like Deildartunguhver, or amazing waterfall like Hraunfossar. Other interesting places to visit are, the active volcano Grábrók, the crater Eldborg, historical viking landmark Reykholt, and taking a walk into the glacier Langjökull. You can stroll through the nearby cozy town of Borgarnes and drop by the cafe’s, museums, shops and restaurants. Take a drive to the capital Reykjavík with all its glory, nightlife and culture. Make a day trip on the Golden Circle and see the exploding Geysir with all its natural power, and drop by the historic Thingvellir National Park, and view close up the beautiful Gullfoss waterfall. In the evenings you will always come back home to this cozy cottage in Helluskógur and the first thing you might do is, relax in the hot tub and enjoy the views or the Northern Lights in the peace and quietness after a memorable day.

The lodge was built in a traditional, Icelandic summerhouse way. It is well constructed and insulated. It is warm and cozy all year round with all necessities and comfort. The house has an open kitchen-living room area. In the kitchen there is all the tableware and equipment you need for cooking, baking, and serving a lovely meal. The living room has a great corner sofa and a large flat screen TV . The bedrooms are cozy and comfortable with great quality beds. Free WIFI.

On the large terrace is a nice hot tub that fits up to 6 people, barbecue grill and comfortable outdoor seating. The terrace is perfect for serving a good meal and relax in the peaceful environment. Beside the house is a grass lawn which is surrounded by a birch forest, ideal for kids to play.

We have been connected to Borgarfjörður since childhood and would like to share good advice and information about the house or the area so don't hesitate to send us an email request about anything you would like to know and we will do our best to help you.

Cabin was exactly as described. Although small by US standards, it was plenty of space for our family of 5, including 3 teenage boys. The info and communication from the hosts were excellent, including detailed directions and access instructions. Good location for access to Snaefxxxx peninsula. Especially appreciated the hot tub after a long day of sightseeing. Thanks!

Fantastic cabin
Perfectly remote and cozy! I wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy sleeping in but the land was calling to us. Terrific house manual sent ahead of booked stay takes all the guess work out of using the property. There are adjacent properties but separated by heavy vegetation. We slept very comfortably. I could see a small family enjoying this space too. The views of the mountains are super from the big windows and on the deck.

Great location with beautiful views, the perfect home base to explore the Snæfellsnes Peninsula and the amazing Hvammsvik Hot Springs! Great communication, easy access and we loved all the amenities (washer)!!! Was everything we hoped for and more. Thank you for sharing this great space!

We adored this place! Perfect location, close to Snaefellsnes Peninsula and the town of Borganes. Everything you needed with very accommodating and helpful hosts. Would highly recommend!

Pluses Clean, great hot tub, grill, washer with fast spin for drying clothes. Great views of the sunset. Feels safe and secure. Nice check-in directions. Bedrooms super small, but the beds were comfortable. We stayed at this location as a family of 4 adults - super small - would be fine for an adult couple with children. The loft had a very low ceiling. Even on knees, ceiling height not adequate at peak for headroom. Ok for only for sleeping - except for noise (open) and light as living room had blinds missing and no black-out curtains in the rental. Bring eye masks if light wakes you up. We got a flat - road coming in - it is long and very bumpy. Overall OK stay

Fun and relaxing time in nature
After being in Reykjavik, we came out to the Borgarnes area to relax and be closer to nature and the Snaefellsnes peninsula area. This little cabin was perfect for that! Felt remote, but was near everything we needed, and the views were so lovely.

So cozy…the perfect place for weary travelers
We stayed here for two nights during our travels to the west part of Iceland. This was our base for our day trip to the snaefellsnes peninsula. Arrival was smooth, the cottage was immaculate, and the beds and furniture were all so comfortable for our family of four. The kitchen was well outfitted and we even cooked a quick meal there on our second night. The cooking basics were there (seasonings, oil, etc). We used the hot tub one night, which was lovely after a long day of travel. Directions to the cabin were very clear and specific, but I am still glad it was light out when we arrived (we were there during June). Might have been harder to find in the dark. Hosts were lovely and I appreciate them sharing their home with us while we were traveling. I highly recommend this spot!

Little slice of heaven
We stayed in this cabin for 3 nights and had a delightful time, I slept so well! The house is cozy, private, and nestled in nature. The amenities were perfect from kitchen, WiFi, hot tub and laundry. My daughter enjoyed reading in the loft area and she said it felt like a tree house:)

Beautiful space and views
We had an incredible time exploring Borgarnes and the Snæfullsnes peninsula from this as our home base. We saw incredible northern lights and loved lounging in the hot tub after exploring all day. The couch was super comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, and it was so fun to have an elf house right next door! 10/10 will be back on our next trip.

North for the Aurora
Family of four adults enjoyed this property for four nights. It was a good location for seeing all that West Iceland has to offer. Fully equipped kitchen and nearby grocery made eating in very easy. All instructions were clear and extensive so we had no problems using any equipment. J hiot tub was a treat. Porch was perfect for viewing the aurora, exactly why I chose this cottage. So glad we finally made it!

The Perfect Getaway!
This was our 10th trip to Iceland, and we've stayed in all sorts of lodging, from guesthouses to hotels to cabins. This time, for my 50th birthday, we wanted something that felt secluded & peaceful, offering us a chance to just 'be' for a while in our favorite country. We had a few requirements: a hot tub, good kitchen and room to stretch out & relax. It also needed to be near the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, so we could make day trips out as desired. This cottage was a slam dunk for us in all respects. Heidi & Robert are very helpful, answering questions before our arrival. The home is just outside of Borgarnes, which offers all the comforts of an Icelandic town: good restaurant options, a large N1, and both a Bonus and Netto for grocery runs. The gravel road leading to the cottage is easy to drive and offers some stunning views of the area. We were able to unpack our bags and settle in easily. The living/kitchen area is quiet large for two people. Windows wrap the corner of the living room, so we had eye-level views at all times, to enjoy the distant mountains during the day, and to see (all) the stars and northern lights at night. The living room has a remarkably comfortable section and a good-sized smart TV with plenty of access to music, movies and videos. The kitchen was easy to use and has plenty of counter space, with lovely black granite counters. Every room has a source of heat, including the bathroom. We were never cold. The upstairs sleeping loft is a fun chance of pace, even for adults. The bathroom has excellent counter space, a window and fan for venting, and a high-quality shower with handheld sprayer and fantastic water pressure. There's also a towel heater. The hot tub was exactly what we needed. It's large, very clean and easy to access. Sitting in a 40ºC tub with no sound at night is bliss. The deep wraparound porch allowed us to sit outside during light rain and take in the air. This experience was a 10/10 for us, and we would absolutely come back, or look into their other properties in the area. If you crave the 'summer cottage' experience in Iceland, this is about as picture-perfect as you can get!

Great summerhouse!
