"Room was clean. Building looked freshly painted. However there were cigarette buds still in ashtray outside of room and the entire room smelled like cigarettes and food eventhough its a smoke free motel. Reception smelled awful. Owner / manager was very rude. Personal shoes everywhere. I made the mistake of leaving a Google review before check out. When I came back to my room at night my key had been disabled so that I would see the manager and he could scold me for my review. He was very defensive and argumentative and very unprofessional. I would have returned but after that incident I will not. Price is decent. Location is prime."
"Room was clean. Air conditioning very noisy and smoke detectors went off during the night. My husband tried to fix but couldn't. We were owed a free night!

"We like the historic nature of this hotel but feel that it needs some TLC. The staff was friendly and accommodating.
We ate breakfast in the dining room once. The food was fine, but the floor was dirty under tables and under the sideboard. It had been swept by the evening meal which was very good. The chairs in the dining room look as if they need to be refurbished.
Our large room had a door to a balcony which we enjoyed each day. The bed was comfortable but we found the room too warm, even with a fan. The room also needs an additional chair placed in front of the TV as its placement makes watching from the couch very difficult. Suggest having hangers available.
We enjoyed our stay but would have enjoyed it more with a few changes."
"Our stay this past weekend was excellent: very relaxing in this cozy location. The location is about a 10-minute drive from downtown Goderich, so we were easily able to make the trip in for meals and exploring. The yard around the cottage is a delightful place to spot birds - we were quite enamoured with the two house wrens that live just off the patio in their little log cabin house and their vibrant song! The sunsets off the beach were spectacular as well. Inside, the kitchen is very well equipped for cooking with lots of utensils, plates, bowls, glassware and all the things you'll need to make a family meal. The first night was cool, and we had a fire in the woodstove - everything was set up and ready to go. There is also a really nice gas fireplace set into the old stone fireplace in the living room, but we didn't get the chance to use that one. The King-size bed in the master bedroom was comfy and there was plenty of room for our belongings (clothes, footwear, suitcases, etc.) in the closet and dressers provided. Everything was clean and organized and the place felt well taken care of. The hosts were so very generous and welcoming: they left us a nice card and bottle of wine for our anniversary that we were celebrating. They made sure we knew they were easily reached by text if we had questions or needed anything. Thank you for a great weekend - we hope we'll be able to return again!"
