Anglers, hikers and families will find delight in this expansive man-made lake, a region of stunning beauty both in and out of the water.

Beaver Lake dominates the landscape of northwest Arkansas, creating a playground for hikers, anglers, swimmers and campers. The 28,000 acres (11,300 hectares) of man-made lake was formed following the construction of the Beaver Lake in the early 1960s and is today the major water source for much of northern Arkansas. Surrounded by landscape that varies from dense forest to rolling meadows, Beaver Lake is a favorite destination for families, who come here to make the most of the amenities, more than 600 camping grounds and long, warm summers.

Whether you’re exploring around the lake or floating on its surface, Beaver Lake has plenty to offer. Explore the 487 miles (780 kilometers) of shoreline by following the hiking trails that traverse the area. Climb the limestone bluffs that rise from the banks of the lake for stunning views. Pack a picnic to enjoy at one of the many dedicated picnic reserves around the lake.

Bring a rod or rent one for the day from one of the many suppliers in the region to enjoy fishing on the lake. With multiple marinas at Beaver Lake there are plenty of places to launch your own boat. If you don’t have your own vessel, join a chartered cruise on a fishing and diving boat or yacht. Fish for bluegill, redear sunfish and various species of catfish and bass in Beaver Lake.

The camp sites that surround Beaver Lake offer visitors the chance to be fully immersed in the Arkansas landscape. Sites range from modern campgrounds with full amenities to basic sites on the edge of dense forest. Enjoy mild evenings by a campfire on the banks of the lake.

Beaver Lake is located in northwest Arkansas close to the towns of Rogers and Springdale. Visit the lake year-round there is no fee to access it.
